UIltrawide Screen - RDP sizing problem

UIltrawide Screen - RDP sizing problem

Hi all,

I've recently changed from using standard ratio monitors to an ultrawide screen. This strangely has had an effect on RDM.

No matter my combination of screen size settings, I always seem to get the RDP session at the size of my screen resolution and get scrollbars.

If I change my screen resolution so that it is not an ultrawide ratio, RDM works as expected.

Does anyone know how I can enjoy ultrawide and RDM at the same time?

I've noticed too; that if my RDM window is simply smaller than 1920 wide - RDM operates properly.

Hello,

What is the size & resolution of your screen?

Could you please edit your RDP entry in RDM, go in the Display tab and set the configuration as seen in the screenshot below?

I think that with this configuration, the size of the screen will be properly displayed in RDM.

Hi Mark,

No luck. No matter what settings I pick in that tab I get my scrollbars if RDM is sized wider than 1920 wide.

Hello,

Could you please tell me what is the exact screen size & resolution of your monitor?

Hi Mark,

It's resolution is 2560x1080.

Hello,

If you go in File -> Options -> Types -> RDP, could please check the Disable RDP scale factor (HDPI) option to see if that helps?

Please restart RDM when you enable the option to make sure that the change has been applied.

Hi Mark,

No luck, I still get scroll bars.

I noticed in this round of testing. If I start out with a smaller RDM sized window, open a session, then maximized RDM. It resizes the RDP screen to fit properly without scaling or scroll bars.

Hello,

Thank you for your reply.

If you maximize RDM, does the Scrollbars come back?

Hi Mark,

No, the behaviour is as expected. The session refreshes at the resolution of the workspace and its business as normal.

Recapping.

To recap original problem. RDM, when opened at my max res of 2560 width, opens RDP session at screen resolution with scrollbars instead of work area size, irrespective of the session settings.

Hello,

In File -> Options -> Types -> RDP, is the Screen Sizing Mode set to Scrollbar?

Hi Mark,

Nope. It is set to Smart Reconnect.

Hi Mark,

I had a look at the article... I do not have a DPI issue.

The resolution works fine once I can trick it into refreshing - it seems like that RDM doesnt connect in the first instance well, but upon reconnecting it is OK.

Hello,

Could you please attach a screenshot of your Display settings of both RDM and your monitor?

Hi
Was this resolved, i have a similar issue where it wont set the resolution of the rdp session to anything except the clients resolution.
The client resolution is quite high at 3024 x 1802
Thanks

Yep.

My problem was that I'd somewhere strayed from the defaults. Putting the Options > Types > RDP > screen size to default, and then putting the RDP session settings to default fixed it right up for me.

@Zarir Buhariwala,

You can also try to enable/disable the Disable RDP scale factor (HDPI) option in File -> Options -> Types -> RDP.

If this doesn't help, you can also try the solutions proposed in this help article
