Inheriting Credentials on Enterprise Edition

Hello, I am test driving RDM Enterprise v13 and am struggling with a really basic task. Do I have to manually edit all of my servers underneath a specific folder so that each server's Credentials = Inherit?

Basically I have set up an Active Directory synchronizer to pull specific OUs so that I don’t have to manually add/remove servers from the list. Now have a nice list of servers to RDP into, but it looks like I have to manually edit each and every server and change the creds setting to Inherit?

I think I might be missing some basic setting here to fix this. I’m still researching but thought I’d ask here too!

Thanks in advance

Hello,

You can use our Batch Edit tool to change all your sessions at the same time to inherit credentials from their parent folder.

This way, you won't have to do them all manually.

Thanks for your response Mark I will give that a shot. If the AD synchronizer picks up on a new server that's been added to AD, will I have to manually edit that server to inherited?

Thinking a bit differently about this, might there be a way to change the behavior of the Credentials "default" setting to equal Inherited? That way when servers are auto-populated and Credentials = Default, it still gets the inherited trait?

Hello,

If you edit your Synchronizer (right-click -> Properties) then go in the Settings tab, you can select a Template

That Template can contain your desired settings including the Inherited option for the Credential dropdown.

For more information on Templates, please have a look here;
https://help.remotedesktopmanager.com/file_templates.htm

You an also chnage the Default Settings of new entries when creating them manually in RDM;

Outstanding thanks again!

For what it's worth, I found a workaround that accomplishes what I need, though I am uncertain if new servers will automatically assume the inherited credentials when added.

My steps:

Boom, all the servers under that folder are now set to Inherited. Of note, if you simply right-click the OU folder created and change the credentials setting through Properties instead of the Batch Edit method, the servers under that folder will NOT update to Inherited

Thanks again Mark, I will investigate the Templates link you sent.
