RDM Role names with backslash

RDM Role names with backslash

avatar

Currently using SQL Server datasource type, and noticed that roles with \ in their names won't appear for role assignments for users. Initially I thought this was a bug, but understand that using devolutions datasource type would allow us to integrate with AD users and groups and I'd expect these would use windows nt naming. Can you verify that the use of names as DOMAIN\GROUP convention not showing under user > roles is by design (I just need to rename them otherwise)?

Hello,

We have been able to reproduce your issue and it has been addressed to our engineering department to see if this was intended or a bug.

Hello Kevin,

Could you tell us what version of Remote Desktop Manager you're using and show screenshots of what's happening? Using the latest beta version I can't reproduce the issue. I created a role called "domain\username" as a test. When assigning users to the role I see the correct name (see the attached screenshots).

I'm on 12.5.4.0.
I should clarify as well. I can assign roles to users via Roles > Assign Roles, but I cannot assign roles to users using Users > Edit User > Roles. The only real down side is that I cannot at a glance tell what roles a user belongs to.
I've included a few screenshots as well.

Thank you for the information. I was indeed missing something, I wasn't in the same window for the role assignment.

I discussed this with Maurice and unfortunately this is a restriction in the current version of RDM. You shouldn't be able to create roles with a backslash, we'll change this soon.
We want to improve it so you can do this in the future but I can't give you an estimate on when this will be done.
