Hello,
We plan to use RDM Enterprise on our network, using a SQL server as data source and about 100 clients will connect to this data source.
Currently, when there is an update for RDM, all clients will download the update from the Devolution's server which generates a lot of internet traffic.
Is there a way to download only 1 (custom) installation and put it on a generic file share on our network ?
Then have all clients look at this file share to search for updates and when found, that it will download and install from this location ?
Hello,
Indeed, it's possible to manage the version of RDM that they use on their computers.
I suggest going in Administration -> Data Source Settings -> Version Management (on older version of RDM) or Administration -> Data Source Settings ->Applications if you are running RDM 13.x.
In that section, it would be possible for you to manage the minimum and maximum version of RDM that your users can use. In that same section, you will found a Download URL field. In that file, insert the network path where your users can download the executable of RDM on your network.
One last thing that I can recommend as well, is to use our policy (GPO) to disable the Check for updates, to avoid your users to download RDM from the internet.
For more information on that last feature, please consult https://help.remotedesktopmanager.com/how_to_modify_the_group_policy.htm
Best regards,

Thank you Jeff for the very quick reply.
I will implement this (incl. GPO) and will come back here to share my findings.
