Hello,
In an effort to simplify the UI or certain worflows, it was decided to implement certain significant changes in RDM 13. We have created options to restore the UI elements and/or follow the legacy model for those of you that made use of these features.
We will keep this topic updated.
Maurice
Hi Maurice,
Just upgraded to 13.0.6 from 12. Noticed that the Quick Connect box is gone. I did a quick search in the forum, but didn't see anything on it. How do I get that back in the top? I use it daily.
Thanks,
Henry
Hello,
Most likely a simple layout issue. Please use Window-Reset Layout
Best regards,
Maurice
I tried the Window-Reset Layout and restarted RDM after. Still not showing.
Hello,
Is it possible that you were using the Classic UI? Unfortunately it's no longer supported and it's not possible to have a combo (quick connect panel) in the menu bar. The only workaround is to use the ribbon in a collapsed mode.
Sorry about that.
Regards
David Hervieux
I was using classic. Changed to Default Ribbon and it is back (thanks!). However, there doesn't appear to be any padding in the bar. The box is at the very top of the screen. Is that normal?
I think it's because of the Theme. Could you try to set it to Default. It must be stuck to the legacy theme.

Hi Devolutions,
Just to let you know,
Since a couple of my colleagues, as well as myself, upgrade from RDM12 to RDM13, we have a lot of performance issues.
RDM freezes or gets to a not responding status after:
Connecting to RDP sessions
Logoff RDP sessions
Expand/Collaps folders
Searching
logging in to the DVLS datasource.
etc.
We have already enabled the RDP hardware mode. That brings a little enlightment, but we still have issues.
Today i RDM already crashed 7 times.
Any significant change what would cause this?
If needed i can make a seperate topic about this.
@Valid Operations,
Are you using RDM on a Terminal Server?
Have you seen high CPU peak since the update to RDM 13?
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
Hi Jeff,
Yes and no;)
Yes we run RDM 12.6.7.0 on terminal server as a remote app. No issues on that environment.
No, the most of our users run RDM on their laptops. Only 5 users have upgraded to RDM13, and all those users experience performance/freeze issues.
Users who have RDM12.6.7.0 on their laptops have no issues.
One user who had RDM13 saw indeed 100% cpu usage. When i check my cpu during RDM13 freezes, the CPU jumps from 40% to 75%.
By the way, we run DVLS4.7 as datasource.
Hello,
In RDM 13.0.14.0, we have added an option in Administration -> Data Source Settings -> General called Allow entry states. If you disable this option, this should resolve those CPU peak that you have.
You can download this version of RDM here
https://remotedesktopmanager.com/home/download#Beta
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
Do i have to disable Allow entry states under Administration-Data source settings?
Or can i disabled that setting under options? We have disabled Data Source access by GPO to prevent people from editing data source settings.
Hello,
Indeed, this option needs to be disable under Administration -> Data Source Settings. The RDM Administrator should have access to disable this option.
The users don't need to do anything.
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
Hello,
When will you fix AD groups performance issues?
Thank you for the clarification:) i will wait till 13.0.14.0 will come out of beta.
@Tony Doval,
As of now, there's no developpment regarding this. How many AD groups do you have in RDM/DVLS? What is the performance issue that you encounter?
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
@Valid Operations,
What you can do, it's to install RDM 13.0.14.0 in portable mode, just to modify this option in the Data Source Settings. Since this is an option saved in the database, this should help all your users.
You can download the portable (zip) version of RDM here as well
https://remotedesktopmanager.com/home/download#Beta
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
@Valid Operations,
Please ignore my previous post.
I had a chat with our engineering department and all your users would need the Beta edition of RDM. This mean that you would need to wait the official release since you don't want to install a beta version in your environment, which is understandable.
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
Just updated to 15.5.6.0, what happened to Navigation, Recent entries? Right-clicking anything in there ONLY gives "Clear Recent Entries", I'm unable to get the right-click context menu for any of the recent entries to be able to connect to them with a variety of options (admin/console, prompt for credentials, select credentials, etc. etc.)
I tried enabling "Hidden special "Open..." actions in the dashboard : File - Options - User Interface - Dashboard" and restarting RDM in case that was it, but no change, also did Window, Reset Layout as well, hasn't fixed it.
Every few updates something happens to mess about with the interface and put a spanner in the works for my workflow.
Please can you tell me what setting I need to do to get this back, or release a hotfix to fix this please, VERY irritating.
Andrew
Hello Andrew,
I will verify why the context menu is missing and get back to you.

David Hervieux
This will be fixed in the next minor release.

David Hervieux
Thank you, will eagerly await its release.
Andrew
We expect to release new version Monday.

Hi David,
The 13.5.7.0 Beta update that was released yesterday has the session right-click context menu back in the Recent entry list, thank you, that's much easier now.
For the next minor release, can you adjust the recent entry list (or let me know if it's a setting I can change now), to remove the location of the item from the "Name" column. Entries appear as:
Name (Path\to\Entry)
Really for a "Name" field, it should just be Name, I'm all in favor of a separate column for location that contains that, would also be nice to control what columns are there and in what order as well.
Andrew
Hello,
Thank you for the post. I will split the name into two columns.

Hi David,
I'm noticing a lot of random entries appearing in my Recent tab... I have not initiated any connection (RDP or other) to these machines.
All I can think of is they maybe new computers added on the domain and after the Synchronizer added them, they now count as a recent entry?
This was not the behaviour previously, and I wish it to return to only being recent connections I have made.
However if some want this functionality, can I recommend a new tab in the Navigator "New Entries" ? Lists new entries created either manually or via Synchronizer.
Also still waiting on splitting out the long name field into Name and Location, and be able to remove the empty Repository column, and the unnecessary (but some may like to have it visible) Date column, sorted by most recent date is sufficient for my use.
Thank you
Andrew
Hello,
Indeed we now include the Added entry in the Recent tab but we should not do it for the Synchronizer. I will report this. Have you tried to the RDM beta, it should contains the two columns.
