Hi Devolutions-Team,
we´re using RDM on VMware Horizon View systems. In some cases RDM resets the network connection on startup and this means, that the client looses connection to the VMware Horizon Host -> Client-shutdown
Is this a known issue? Any idea, why this happens?
Regards,
Henning
Hi Henning,
Unfortunately, it is the first time we heard about that problem. Could you give us more information about how to reproduce the issue?
I also don't understand what "rdm resets the network connection on startups" mean, is it when RDM is started or when a Horizon view entry is started?
You could also send us a recorded video at support@devolutions.net if you want.
Best regards,
David Grandolfo
Hi David,
our support agents are working on VMware Horizon View systems. Therefore, they start RDM in a virtualized environment.
In the moment of RDM-startup, the network connection is reset by RDM. It seems as if RDM checks the network-adapters available on the system.
This is no problem on physical systems, but on those virtualized clients the connection is lost in that moment.
No chance to work with RDM on Horizon view.
Best regards,
Henning
Hi,
Thanks for this explanation, now I understand the issue, unfortunately I do not have a Horizon View infrastructure internally. Do you know if the computer is only a VM if the problem is the same? or it only under an Horizon view infrastructure?
And last question what windows version RDM is install on?
Best regards,
David Grandolfo
Hi,
running RDM on a "regular" VM is no problem. It seems to be a problem on Horizon view.
RDM is running on Windows 10 in VMVView.

Henning
Hello Henning,
sorry that I meddle - We have a horizon infrastructure and I want to reproduce your issue - can you give me some more details about your environment?
Windows = 1703 ?
Horizon Version? (Connection Server, Agent..?)
The issue is when you connection via horizon and open the RDM on the client the connection are terminated?
Thanks!

Min
Hi Min,
here are the details about our environment:
Thanks.

Hi Henning,
Thanks for the details! I be afraid that the problem are on the constellation from the virtual environment and not on RDM side. I'm sure that you know that the vSphere 5.0 & 5.1 is out of support since 24th August 2016. Further is the Agent version not supported with the View Server Version (it's listed but only for migration scenarios) - I know the support for win 10 was added with the agent version 6.2.0, but I think right there is the issue.
Unfortunately I'm unable to test exact your scenario, but I can confirm that RDM works without any issues on following Environments:
Horizon 6:
VMware vCenter Server 6.0 U3
VMware ESXi 6.0 U3a
VMware Horizon View 6.2.5
Horizon 6 View Agent 6.2.5-6865358
We currently running on Horizon 7 (before Horizon 6.2.5 and updated the environment) and have a couple of Horizon VM`s with RDM deployed - all of them running flawless and we have no connection / network reset issues.
I personally recommend to update the virtual environment (vCenter, ESX, View Server) at least to version 6.2 - I'm pretty sure that after that the network issues are gone.
Sorry that I can't provide "better" news
Best Regards,
Min
