Deployment of RDM to group

I just want to check to make sure I am doing the process correctly. We have a small group that is currently using RDM with MySql.

When I do an upgrade, I install the new version on our server, and then I make a new installer package with the Cloud Custom Installer Manager. I then have the group download this package and install it on their local machines.

We tried doing a shared folder from the server, but it would take about 3 minutes for the program to start up. So I went with local installs. Unless there is a different way of doing this that I'm missing.

Thanks!

Hello,

The process described above is perfect. If I could proposed something, I don't know how you distribute your package, but this can easily be made by the Data Source Settings. If you go in Administration -> Data Sources Settings -> Applications -> Remote Desktop Manager, you can set the minimum and maximun version to use and set the path where to download your custom installer.

I'm trying to upgrade the group to 13.0.4.0, but it doesn't let me use that version to build a new deployment package. I understand it doesn't let me choose the most recent one unless a certain amount of time has passed in case of show stopping errors. I have to use 13.0.2.0. When I try to install the package, it says it fails. I am assuming it is because of the version mismatch? Is there a log file it creates somewhere that I can check to see why it is failing?

Thanks!

Ok, it seemed to have worked this time. I created an MSI instead of EXE, and I also used the default name for the .rdi file, as I originally gave it a different name when creating the new .rdi file.

Hello,

I was looking at your previous post when I saw the latest one mentioning that you have been able to deploy the installation using the MSI file.

Glad that is now working.
