Navigation Menu doesnt save

avatar

Just upgraded to from the most recent last version of RDM to version 4.0.30319.
Now every time I close RDM my Navigation pane resets so all my folders, companies, connections are collapsed.
Prior to the upgrade whatever I had drilled down into in the Nav pane would remain when I re-opened RDM.
This is quite annoying as I have all my connections organized and sometimes a connection is fairly deep within the tree structure--so now I have drill down into each connection from the top level every time I open RDM.

Could you post a print screen? Where RDM is installed exactly? I suspect that the remotedesktopmanagerfree.ext is not saved.

Well, for the sake of privacy I'm limited posting screenshots, but here is a screen shot of the very top of my folder hierarchy. No matter how far im drilled down into sub folders, as soon as I close RDM and reopen it, im back to the very top of the folder hierarchy again.

We have few options in File->Options to manage the tree collapse. Could you check this? Just do a search for Collapse and you will find the settings.

Here's my Navigation settings. Looks like everything is enabled. I didn't change anything, just literally started happening as soon as I upgraded.

I also am having this problem after upgrading to 13.0.4.0. I also see that logging out of a session reverts to the dashboard as well. There was an earlier thread covering this problem: https://forum.devolutions.net/topic26280-close-session-then-jumps-back-to-dashboard.aspx

I remember having the navigation pane problem also for quite a few versions until it finally got solved. I never changed any settings to achieve the fix.

As I recall, these two problems were linked.

For the record, my RDM is installed locally and I see current time/date stamps on my %APPDATA%\local\Devolutions\RemoteDesktopManager\RemoteDesktopManager.ext

Could you try to delete the .ext file? Just backup the file before and make sure that RDM is closed.

I deleted the .ext file and started RDM. Navigated the navigation pane to a server and connected. Logged off, closed RDM and restarted. Navigation pane was collapsed. <frown>

In short, no effect.

I have few ideas that I will test later today. Could you tell if the navigation tree is selected when you close the application or if it's another tab like the Favorite, the MRU or the Private Vault?

For me, it alters the behavior ever so slightly. If I close the application with the MRU or Favorites selected, then the Navigation Tree is fully collapsed (Both Local Data Source and Credentials). Otherwise, only my Local Data Source portion is collapsed and the Credentials section is fully expanded.

I have the Navigation Tree set to hide, but setting it to dock does not make a difference either.

Im always under the All Entries tab. I don't really use the other ones.

Also got this behavior with RDM Free 4.0.3.0.

I've been able to reproduce it. I'm working on it.
