[SOLVED] Reconnect keyboard shortcut hides the Navigation panel

[SOLVED] Reconnect keyboard shortcut hides the Navigation panel

avatar

When using the "Reconnect" keyboard shortcut on a SSH connection, the Navigation panel is automatically hidden. The bug doesn't occur when using the "Reconnect" context menu.

Using RDM Free 4.0.2.0

Hello,

What key combination did you set for the "reconnect" keyboard shortcut? I feel like it may conflict with a pre-existing shortcut (either an RDM one, or one that our third party handles).

Ctrl+Shift+R

I checked the Options→User Interface→Keyboard section, and it isn't used by any other action as far as I can tell. I use this shortcut since a long time ago, and I never had any issue before upgrading to RDM Free 4.0.0.0

Hello Otiel :),

Would it be possible to get your RDM configuration file ? If so send it to aroy@devolutions.net

I belive this might be a combos of option doing this. I see that the action by default on the navigation pane seems to be Alt + F8.

If you change that shortcut does it still happen?

Please follow these instruction to send me the configuration file https://help.remotedesktopmanager.com/howto_configurationfile.htm

Best regards,

Hi Alexandre,

I just sent you my cfg file. I've tried to completely disable the shortcut to show/hide the navigation pane (which was Alt+F8 as you said), but it doesn't change anything.

After performing more tests, I observed that the bug occurs only if I push down the Ctrl+Shift keys while the reconnection is being done. If I quickly let up all keys (Ctrl+Shift+R), the navigation pane is not hidden. If I quickly let up two keys out of three, the bug doesn't occur as well. It seems that it is the Ctrl+Shift combination, being held down while the session is reconnecting that produces the bug.

I've also tried to hold down the Ctrl+Shift keys while opening a new session(I quickly hit Ctrl+Shift and hold them down after double-clicking on my connection), and the navigation pane is hidden as well.

Hello,

I looked in the code and it seems we intended this to be a feature... but it's not documented and can be weird for users to stumble upon.
We'll change it so this feature isn't enabled by default but you can change it in File > Options with the option "collapse navigation pane on open with ctrl+shift".

I understand that you would like to use this feature when you open a new connection, but I feel that it doesn't make sense to apply it when reconnecting a session.

Anyway, if there is an option to disable it, that's perfectly fine with me.

Thank you Hubert!
