Hello
I see the sort order option on both the session and groups, but it appears they only sort sessions within a list of sessions and groups within a list of groups.
Is there a way to manually sort both sessions and groups? I want to have the sessions at the top with groups at the bottom and a manual sort order seems to be the only way to do it.
Running Enterprise 12.6.8.0 with SQL Server datasource.
Hello,
It's not possible to position a session in front of a folder. You would need to have your folders at the top and then, your sessions.
It's possible to change the order of your sessions or folders manually by changing the Sort Priority. The Sort Priority option is available under the User Interface menu in the properties of your session or folder.

is this a design or limitation?
Both and this it not easy to change unfortunately.

Hello,
I had a chat with one of my colleague and there's maybe an option that can help you.
Please go in File -> Options -> User Interface -> Tree View and check the option Tree View group (bottom). Could you give it a try?
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
That works well. Do you know of a way to set that option at the db level? otherwise it appears to be client specific.
Hello,
Unfortunately, there's no option at the database level for this. Indeed, it's client side.
The thing you can do it's to use the Custom Installer Service to deploy RDM with this setting enabled.

Hi, guys
Sort order in session is dimmed out.
Is this feature only in the paid version?
Thanks,
Rob
Hi,
I think it's only in the Enterprise version but, we will remove the limitation. This is no longer the kind of difference we want to do between the paid and the free version.

Hello,
Which version of RDM free are you using? In 4.0.4.0 I can successfully change the sort priority, it's not greyed out.

Hubert Mireault
Dear Sir,
Thanks!
Im on 9.1.4.0, says its the latest.
But the field is dimmed out.
Thanks.
Could it be RDM Standard edition? This was before RDM Free.

Hi,
Thanks for reply. Yep, its the standard.
So I can install the new version and preserve my settings? Just download from devolutions.net and install on top?
Theres still an enterprise version? What advantages?
Thanks
@Robert,
Firstly, I would recommend to backup your %localappdata%\Devolutions\RemoteDesktopManager folder.
Secondly, go on https://remotedesktopmanager.com/Home/Download and download RDM Free Edition 4.0.4.0.
Thirdly, if you we're using a local data source like SQLite or XML, go in the backup folder that you have made of %localappdata%\Devolutions\RemoteDesktopManager folder and copy the connection.xml or connections.db on a safe place on your computer.
In conclusion, open RDM Free and create a new SQLite or XML data source via the File -> Data Sources menu and indicate the proper path to access your local database.
For your information, connections.db is for SQLite and connections.xml is for XML.

Thanks, great support!
last question, should I uninstall my RDP before installing new one or can I install on top?
Also, I wanted to register it, because I love it so much and support is great, but US$ 149 a bit high for me. There isnt some smaller lite version I can register for a cheaper price?
Thanks,
Rob
@Robert Boyl,
I would recommend uninstalling RDM prior to install the newest version.
Regarding the pricing of RDM, I just send your information to our sales department, they will contact you shortly on that subject.

Jeff Dagenais
Thank you very much. It all worked out just fine.
All entries were even preserved.
Thanks!!
