clicking and dragging to an undocked session causes RDM main window to move to front

avatar

for the purpose of this ticket assume I have 2 monitors, M1 and M2

M1 - open RDM
open any session
click and drag tab to undock the session to a different monitor (M2)
maximize a different window on the same monitor (M1) as RDM (say a browser or text editor) so that it is the active window, in front of RDM window
back on the other monitor with the session (M2), click on it to make it active

- the RDM window on your M1 monitor will come in front of the window you maximized and put in front of RDM.

This makes it really hard to use multiple monitors with undocked sessions. Undocking the session via click and drag doesnt seem to undock it properly, as the tab stays shown in the undocked window.

The above issue does NOT occur, if right clicking on the docked tab and then selecting "undock". Only when clicking and dragging sessions from docked to undocked.

Hi,
Could you try to uncheck Auto focus tab on item select in File->Options?

Thats a negative. No change in behavior. You can tell it doesnt use the same behavior when clicking and dragging vs. right clicking and choosing undock. Here are what they look like:

Indeed it's not the same. If you drag and drop you create a new Tabbed form with multi-tabs support and with the Undocked menu, it creates a new dialog and keep the tab (empty) in the original form. Unfortunately I was unable to do the original undock with the drag out.

I thought that it was a focus problem and I misunderstood the original issue.

By the way, in RDM 12 the drag and tab was not supported.

Ya, I guess I never noticed because when I create the session, I tell them to undock there. I was setting up a new system and trying to use the tabs, then just clicking and dragging to undock. So wasnt used to the bug (or missing feature).

Honestly I was working on a the feature to allow the undock with the drag tab but since I was unable to make it works, I decided to continue it and create this feature where you can drag another tab into the new one to have multi tabbed forms.
