First connection opened ignores Display settings

First connection opened ignores Display settings

Hey all,

After updating to v13 I have found that if no previous connections are yet open, the first connection to open does not respect the configuration regarding Display Size.
The first connection will open with scrollbars visible and parts of the screen out of view.
After that session is open, all other sessions will start as required with the remote desktop resized correctly and no scrollbars.
If all sessions are then closed, the initial behavior returns when the next session is opened as it is again "the first".

Highly annoying functionality/bug. I recall a similar issue in past v12 versions but past fixes do not change result.
Would appreciate assistance.

Hi,
Is it possible that when you have no connection opened, you also don't have the dashboard opened?

+1 Having the same issues, no changes except upgrade to v13

Could you please tell me if you have the dashboard hidden?

Dashboard is closed

Great. I've been able to reproduce it and I'm working on a workaround. It seems to be a bug with the third party we use.

Hi,
I have a potential fix here:

http://cdn.devolutions.net/download/Devolutions.RemoteDesktopManager.Bin.13.0.1.0.zip

Could you give it a try?

Hi, sorry for not responding sooner. I guess I could have been of some help here.

In my case I can tell you that the dashboard is not closed or set to hidden on my setup.
The Dashboard tab is visible on the left of the currently open connection tab.
I have already downloaded and applied the fix you posted earlier, but I can see no change in behavior.
The first connection opened ignores display sizing config and other connections after that seem to be fine.
If other connections are open and I close the first connection and then reconnect everything seems fine.
If I close all connections, the next (first) connection i open will again ignore the display sizing configurations

So basically it would seem that the issue only occurs when the connection being opened is the only connection currently open, it will ignore the display settings

Additionally I have just figured out that the issue occurs mainly when connecting to older instances of Windows (server 2008) where as if the first connection is to a newer version of windows (server 2012 and above) the connection is made and I see a flash of the scrollbars and as the taskbar flashes into view they both disappear and the "reconnecting" dialog pops up to show connection reset. Once the reconnection is complete the display sizing is correct.

Hope this helps

Could you post a print screen of the UI when you have no connection opened?

Could you verify the tooltip (mouse over the tab page) to verify the resolution set when it fail vs after the reconnect?

Sure... here are the two tooltips..

For a test, could you try to Set Display to Scrollbar instead o Smart Reconnect.

Honestly I'm not able to reproduce it. That's why I tried to find some clues about the issue.

Hi,

As I have the same issue on the free version, I just notice this change in the Display setting:

Screen Sizing Mode: ScrollBar

If you "reset" with Smart sizing, it works like before.

How to do a bulk update on Windows (RDP) connections?

Regards,
Nicolas
