Hello,
we are currently evaluating the implementation of RDM and PVM in our company.
I am a bit confused about the two products, as it seems that RDM can do most of things that PVM also can do. I making groups and assigning roles and security groups with SQL as a source seems to be in both applications.
I am personally using 1password as a password-safe, and I am quite satisfied how it works when automatically calling up logins. However with PVM, which I am testing now, I have my troubles.
What I would expect the application to do is recognize the website, no matter if http or https, and based on the domain. For example:
I have http://www.mylemon.at/ saved in PVM, and in Firefox the extension installed. However, when I click on Login, the website changes to https, which is expected, https://www.mylemon.at/?account=login, and the "star" doesn't show me anything, only "No credentials found...".
My second question is, can I make passwords always show in the Overview? We don't need stars here, as passwords are only accessed my management, and the application can be set to lock after a minute, which is fine.
And thirdly, do I need PVM if I get RDM?
That said, I am still going through the manual and I might have missed something.
Thank you
Another question: when I lock PVM, why does it still show me what's shown in the program? I would expect it to hide whatever is shown... not point in locking if everything remains visible.
Hello,
regarding the comprasion between PVM & RDM please have a look on the blog entry ;)

Min
Except for me and my colleague, nobody else needs RDM-functionality. Others only need PVM-functionality. And considering the price of the RDM and PVM, other users might be better suited with PVM only. Can I run both off the same SQL-database, and basically manage PVM from RDM? For instance, show PVM-users only password folders and credentials, while showing my colleague other things like server etc. Currently experimenting with PVM advanced security... a bit confusing all in all, but I am reading the documents on the help pages.
Please note also other questions ;)
Including: how do I move the whole database from the Local Data Source in the free version into Enterprise Version SQL-database?
Thanks
Hello,
Indeed, RDM and PVM can connect on the same database. If you are doing this, don't be surprised to see less entries in PVM, since RDM has more entry types, PVM will only display the ones that you can create in PVM.
That being said, if you want to move from the free edition to the Enterprise Edition, please consult the following links

Hi,
Concerning the questions about PVM and Devolutions Web Login. They already find the credentials with the domain.
I tried to reproduce your issue with a Web Login session with http://www.mylemon.at in the website field and check the "enable web extension link" option with the compare type to Default. I get the credentials at https://www.mylemon.at/?account=login
What is your PVM version and DWL version?
Could you send me the trace by doing these steps.
1. Open the profiler in PVM. You can find the profiler in the Help tab on the ribbon.
2. Select the Debug Only tab in the profiler window.
3. Write 17 in the Debug Level field.
4. Go in Firefox to auto-fill the website.
5. Copy-Paste the trace in a private message.
Best regards,

Thank you. It worked out!
Apparently it works now. All that happened was a computer restart...
If I continue having question during the trial, should I post here or should I write directly to support@...?
Hello,
No problem to create new topics in the appropriate forum or to send us emails at support@devolutions.net.
However, please use one of the two channels that you preferred to not duplicate question/issue on the forum and in the support mailbox.
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
Understood. I'll keep it in the mail, since the questions are less support question but pertain more to the workflow. Thank you.
I Have my Datasource send form one Hard Disk to an new to use my Saved Data on the same System Harddisk with the new Harddisk BUT the Datasource pvm Data shows an XML Error...why? and what can i do there 97 Account Passwords in this pvm Data?
Hello @Christian Dieter Wilm,
Could you please tell us what version of PVM that you are using? Perhaps attaching a screenshot of this XML error just to be sure.
Also, what type of data source do you use in PVM?
Best regards,
