Session Credentials for AD Synchronizer

Session Credentials for AD Synchronizer

avatar

Hi

Sorry if I am missing the obvious but I couldn't find the answer in the forums. Is it possible to specify the credentials that the sessions created by the AD Synchronizer create? At the moment I am using credential repository creds for running the Synchronizer itself but all of the Microsoft RDP sessions it creates are set to use default credentials (I would like them to use repository creds)?

Thanks

Alan

Hello Alan,

yes this is possible - for this scenario it s the best way to work with templates.

Now the new created session from this synchronizer should use the settings from the specified template.

Thanks Min. I have created a template as a local template as it contains my specific credential information (so don't want it to be shared). Unfortunately when I go to the templates setting on the Synchronizer I can only see Shared Templates? This is different to the Hyper-V synchronizer where I can choose local or shared using a tab at the top of the display. Am I doing something wrong. I created a template for Microsoft RDP Session.

Thanks again

Hi Alan,

sorry my fault - you are right - for the synchronizer you must use a shared template.

As I understand you want use a private credential entry from the credential repository (private vault)?

Hi Min

Yes I want to specify the credentials that I have configured in my Credential Repository and don't want to stick a template using these into the shared area (it would be no use to anyone else).

Thanks

Hello Alan,

thanks for the explanation!

In this case we could use the User Specific Setting - you can mark the sessions or the parent folder within the sessions you want to use your private credentials and set the Credential Override.

Is this what you are looking for?

Thanks!

Ah that looks like it might work, thanks Min :)

Is there any reason why we can choose local templates for the Hyper-V Sync but not for the AD one?

Cheers

Hi Alan,

Effectively the local templates should be available on the AD Synchronizer also. I will take a look with the engineering department and I will let you know.

Hi,
No they should not be available because they might be missing for another user.
