I am testing the remote desktop manager. but rdp client, mstsc.exe is not available on my end. the approach s to use remote destop app from windows store.
Can rdm launnch sessions from this app.?
thank u
Hello,
In embedde mode, RDM use a Microsoft ActiveX to establish the remote connection. In fact, it's the same ActiveX that is used in Microsoft RDC Manager.
In external mode, RDM use the native Microsoft RDP (mstsc.exe).
That being said, if you lauch a RDP session in embedded mode, is it working?

Hello,
well, in both embedded and detach, I am getting the same warning. The warning is not RDM related. RDM is operating as it is designed to.
The error is a result of a policy enforcement in windows. The recommended alternative, for the moment is for users to download Microsoft Remote Desktop app, which is not being impacted by this policy....
I know this is an internal issue to be addressed. But in the meantime, this also impacted my use of RDM, so I was exploring if I could get RDM to use the Windows Remote Desktop app to initiate connections.
The warning message:
"Account restrictions are preventing this user from signing in. For example: blank passwords aren't allowed. sign-in times are limited, or a policy restriction has been enforced."
Hello,
As of now, it's not possible to use this application in RDM. I will verify with our engineering department what we can do about this.
One thing that I would like you to try is to change the RDP version to use FreeRDP to see if it's working or not using the freeRDP protocol.

Oh.. this actually works... I will ready about it to understand the differences. I was not familiar with this..
I afraid I need to shoot back another question, since I am all happy about your suggestion... :) Is there a way to change the advanced settings on all my RDP connections in one go?
Hello,
Using FreeRDP, you are using another protocol to establish the RDP connection instead of the Microsoft one.
If you want to use this protocol for all your RDP sessions, put back the RDP version in your session to Default and then go in File -> Options -> Types -> RDP and change the RDP version in that section instead. Then, all the sessions set to Default will use FreeRDP to connect.

Got it. Brilliant. Thank you very much for your help. Fantastic!
