Hello,
I don't know if anyone is having this issue or that I'm not searching for the right term. I had upgraded RDM a few weeks ago and have had an issue where when connected to a remote desktop (RDP) the mouse pointer disappears against mostly white background applications such as Word and Notepad, etc.
If there is a setting to change the remote pointer, I couldn't find it and if this is a bug, I wasn't able to search it. I don't seem to be having this issue with an MS RDP connection.
Remote Desktop Manager Enterprise Edition version 12.6.8.0
Windows 10 version 10.0.15063 build 15063
Dell Latitude E7470
Thank you for your help and let me know if you have any more questions.
Thank You,
Jason
Hello,
Are you using a High DPI monitor?
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
The laptop LCD is (2560x1440) but I primarily used a second monitor (1920x1080) I know I have adjusted the UI settings in the past as I had problems with a ghost pointer.
Do you have the issue if you use RDCMan?
Regards
David Hervieux
I do have the same issue with RDCMan, would that be a DPI setting?
What DPI % scaling do you use?
Regards
David Hervieux
I was using 200% but changed it to 150%, it didn't seem to make a difference.
Do you see a difference between RDM 32 or RDM 64?
David Hervieux
Seems to be the same in either 32 or 64.
Try this.
In the remote session:
Change the Mouse Pointer 'Scheme' to 'Windows Black (system scheme)'
Mouse pointer look and feel settings:
In the Start menu search for 'mouse pointer look'

Was the root cause ever found? It's very unhandy to setup Windows Black mouse pointer scheme everywhere.
@Stanislav Castek,

Im getting same issue. It's very frustrating. Does not happen when i use regular MS RDP
RDMAN Version: 13.0.6.0 64Bit
Datasource: Local Database
OS: Windows 10 Enterprice
@Oscar P,
In embedded mode, RDM use a Microsoft ActiveX to establish the remote connection. In fact, it's the same ActiveX that Microsoft use in RDC Manager.
That being said, do you encounter the same issue in Microsoft RDC Manager?

I am also experiencing this, and to answer the question above, yes I encounter the issue in Microsoft's RDC Manager application.
@Timm Zahn,
Your test confirmed that the issue is with the Microsoft ActiveX, because RDM and RDC Manager use the same ActiveX to open the sessions in embedded mode.
You can try to use FreeRDP instead of Microsoft to establish the RDP session. To do so, go in File -> Options -> Types -> RDP and change the RDP engine for FreeRDP.

Jeff Dagenais
I know it's been a while since I posted but the FreeRDP seems to be better for me, at least I can see the pointer now instead of an almost invisible dot. Still seems to be consistent with using wordpad/notepad, etc. Any major differences with FreeRDP?
Hello,
Sorry for the late response.
FreeRDP is a protocol who has been developed a few years ago and we have access to that code, so it's easier for us to troubleshoot RDP issue that you may have. The most common feature available in Microsoft are also available in FreeRDP so there's not really a difference in that area.
