Improvements to the search/filter feature

Apologies in advance if this is already implemented but I can't seem to find it.
I rely on the filter feature quite heavily but have a minor gripe with the way it works. In other applications, if you filter for an entry, select the item then clear the filter the selection moves to highlight that item in the main list. That doesn't seem to be the case in RDM. For example, if I have "Entry1" selected in the main list then filter for "Entry2", click to select "Entry2" but then if I clear the filter the selection moves back to "Entry1" again.
Is there a way to fix this or can I request this as an enhancement please?

Could you go in File -> Options -> User Interface -> Filter and check the Disable smart expand on filter option to see if that help.

Thanks that sort of works but for some reason it collapses all the folders which is even worse. I simply want it to move to the item I've searched for while retaining the structure as it was originally. Would this be possible?
