Rename custom field 1 navigation pane header and replicate custom field 1 name to all entries

In our list of entries each client is assigned a company group and anything relating to that company is a sub entry under that group.
We have a lead engineer for each company.
The best way I have found for everyone to easily identify the lead engineer for each client is by using Custom Field 1 to record the name.
When I show custom field 1 in the navigation pane, the label of the column remains as Custom Field 1.
It appears each custom field 1 field is specific to that particular entry.
We are only going to use this field on all entries to record the lead engineer.

1. Is there a way to rename the column header
2. is there a way to hide a column from the nav pane once it has been added without having to use the reset layout function
3. is there a better way to perform the function I am trying to achieve
4. I entered my name as the value of Custom #1 in the custom fields page of the Company Group, I then set the value of Custom #1 of a sub group to $COMPANY_CUSTOM_FIELD1$ but it does not pull in the value from the parent group.
5. is there a way to replicate the custom name I have given Custom Field 1 to all entries and the value I have entered without using a script

Hello,

1- It's not possible to rename the Custom Field 1 column header. I will verify if it's possible to integrate this kind of feature or not with our engineering department.

2- To remove the column from the Navigation Pane, left-click on the column title, hold the left-click button and drag the column title outside the Navigation Pane. This should remove the unwanted column.

3- As of now, I am thinking of using the Description field in the More section. A Description column can be added in the Navigation Pane. However, using the $COMPANY_CUSTOM_FIELD1$ in the Description field is not resolved. I will verify this with our engineering department.

4- I have reproduce the same issue has you. I will verify this with our engineering department.

5- It's possible to achieve what you want using the Batch Edit feature. Select the Company Folder and then go in Edit -> Batch Edit -> Edit Sessions (General Settings). Please note that this will update the content of the group/folder and not the group/folder by himself. This would need to be done manually in the folder directly. If several companies as the same lead engineer, you can use the Advanced Search feature in the View tab and perform a search by Connection Type -> Company. Then, select the company folders and do a right-click -> Edit -> Batch Edit -> Edit Sessions (General Settings).

I will try to add a setting to change the custom column field name with a default name. This could be reflected after that in the tree view columns.

Hello,

Our engineering department has fixed the issue with the custom field variables not being resolved.

They have also added a new option in File -> Options -> User Interface to be able to override the Custom Field 1-2-3 column title.

Both should be available in the next release of RDM.

Best regards,

Jeff Dagenais
