'Keyword/Tag Selection' List - Maintenance Options

avatar

Hi -

Recently adopted RDM at my company and we love it. After playing around with how to use Keywords/Tags, we had a growing list of unwanted keywords (screenshot attached) and no idea how to maintain the list. How can I remove entries from the list? Thanks.

Hello,

We made some changes to the keywords recently. Before, you simply had to type the keyword you wanted.

The new way is to create Keywords and to enable them by using the checkbox to appear on the entries that should have the desired keywords;

If you want to delete them, you will need to remove them on all the entries that use them.

To ease that task, we offer the Batch Edit tool however this is only available in the Enterprise Edition;
https://help.remotedesktopmanager.com/edit_batch.htm

If you want to use the old method instead of the new one, we've added an option in File -> Options -> Advanced which is called Enable keywords textbox in properties;

If you want to use them in the search/filter bar, you need to enable the option Include Keywords/Tags by clicking on the ellipsis button;

Please let me know if you need additional help.

Hi,
We also plan to improve the tag usage with a batch remove or batch add. We will eventually also add a view per tags.

Thanks for the quick response! So if I'm understanding you correctly when all instances of a particular keyword are removed from the session entries the keyword drops off the list; and that can be accomplished with batch edit (or PowerShell). Correct?

Hello,

Thank you for your reply.

That is exactly right! And as David mentioned, we will be improving the tag usage with it's own batch edit system.

Any timeframe on the view per tag? Would ideally want to be able to define a folder and have all the entries matching multiple TAG patterns (AND & OR) show up under neath that. But ofcourse a good first step is to just enable one tag to show under the folder.

I don't have a time frame but all the internal changes to support this were made.
