Beginner Question - Deployment of RDM

Hello

I am having a few questions about RDM and the possibility to work with it in an multiuser environment.
We have tested RDM and now we are very interested in go life scenario.

Situation:
Setup an environment as we want to use it. Filled in all the passwords, connections etc. we need.
Now how can other users use this Setup? I have seen that there is a possibility to give everyone a custom installation with install packages but i don't want everyone to get their own version of the default file. I want to share the existing db so that if changes are made, everyone will directly have Access to the new information.
But do we share the same db? Or is there a possibility to set it up like a Client - Server application? How can i give my co-workers access to this application if i don't have a terminalserver? How is here the howto..?

Kind regards
Steffi

Hello,

There are two notions at play here

First, data: RDM is indeed a client/server application when using what we call Advanced Data Sources (most common being SQL Server). If you want to allow access from anywhere you must choose a cloud solution. (SQL Azure, AWS RDS, etc)

Second, config: you can share with your colleagues the data source definition which they can recreate or even import on their own machines. For a large team you can even use our Installation > Client > Custom Installer Service > Custom Installer Manager to create a personalized installation package that will take care of everything.

You can find the getting started topic on Checklist for Teams

Ok now i got it working.
I've installed RDM on a Client Computer and connected successfully to the database.
Now i saw that there is no entry. So i imported the config from the main DB.
Is it correct, that if for example we have 10 users and everyone is connected to the db, they have to Import the data? And if one of the users changes anything at those entries, the others won't get those changes?
Is there a possibility that everyone works on the exact same entries? So if a change is made by anyone, the others will see it?
