Dropbox without internet availability?

Dropbox without internet availability?

avatar

I had a situation recently when the internet was unavailable and I was trying to control my internal servers using RDM. I was a bit shocked that RDM did not work even though my primary data source is set as "dropbox" (which the dropbox folder is available offline). My guess is that the system is not using the dropbox folder "proper".

Am I correct on this that Dropbox will not work in offline mode?
Is there a way to make certain RDM is available offline regardless of the primary data source being available?

Note that I chose to not use our internal SQL server for fear I may need to use RDM even if our SQL server is down.

Thanks,
Bob

Hi,
RDM connect directly to dropbox. If you want to use it when it's offline, just configure a normal xml data source linked to a folder sync with dropbox. Make sure to enable the auto refresh.

That's what I figured, in retrospect it did ask to verify against dropbox. Anyway to use two different data sources and keep them synchronized (i.e. a dropbox data source and SQL data source).

Thanks,
