Restricting access to the RDP Manager Application

Restricting access to the RDP Manager Application

avatar

Version: 12.5.4.0

Dear Sirs,

We are in a trial period and want to check, how we can restric the access to RDP Manager for our administrators.
We have set up several users with authentication type: Custom: Devolution. We did not choose SQL because we
do not want to create a sql login for each user in the db.

Right now, we would like to start the RDP Manager and let the user authorize with the created login data, type: "Custom: Devolution".
Where or how can we setup that setting? Right now, we could only find the information ( in Datasource setting --> Security) , that login
in is possible with Windows-Logininformations as also with Google Authenticator.

How can I make sure that only created users in the database can access the application?

Many thanks and best regards

Hi Pascal,

Could you have a look at the SecurityProvider, if you activate the Security Provider it will encrypt the database with a specific PassPhrase or with a certificate and in this case only RDM users with the Security provider will be able to access the database.

No domain or dba will be able to access the data in the database.

Is it what you are looking to perform?

Hi David,

thank you for your reply. I took a look at the security provider and changed it to "Passphrase" and set a password. It tells me that the passphrase is saved once on the computer. But I want to have the user to authenticate with the Devolutions users login and password every time the application is started. How does the application knows, which user have the rights (what he can see or change) without having a unique identification who is logging in?

We want to show all entries only for our IT admins. Only client related servers/devices should be shown to 1st level admins.

Do I have the chance to d this setup?

best regards

Hi Pascal,

Sorry I forgot the first step, before encrypting the database we recommend to create users and take a look at the security how you would like to manage it.

Could you please take a look at this help topic, we have 10 step for a good start for team usage.

The Checklist is :
