Remote Desktop Manager & AuthAnvil Integration Help

Remote Desktop Manager & AuthAnvil Integration Help

avatar

Hi,

We are trialing Remote Desktop Manager Enterprise at the moment but am struggling to get our head around how the integration with AuthAnvil works. I'm also unsure on what kind of integration this can offer and what functionality is available.

We use AuthAnvil quite heavily at the moment with majority of our details stored here, and seeing that RDM is able to integrate with AA is a real boon for us, but there is little documentation on how to get this setup and what this offers once in place.

Would really appreciate any help or assistance with this as it is something I wold like to get up and running whilst our Trial period is active.

Many Thanks
Rich

Hi,
We did have an integration of AuthAnvil but it was for an old version. We have on our todo list to verify exactly what has changed. I will assign this to Hubert for investigation.

Hello Rich,

I wanted to confirm with you before looking into it, but do you mean the AuthAnvil Two Factor, or the Authanvil Password Server? I assume you are talking about the password server, is that correct? If so we will need to setup an Authanvil password server in our environment first.

Hi Hubert,

Thanks for the reply.

We are actually reviewing whether RDM could be used to replace AA entirely and so for the moment there is no immediate need for us to look at the integration between RDM and AA.

I will update this forum post and get in touch with you again later if this changes however.

Thanks
Rich

Hello Hubert,

What's the status of the AuthAnvil Password Server integration?

Hello,

We had put this on the backburner but we'll bump up the priority again. We have to setup an AuthAnvil Password Server in our environment and then see what changed in the API. This may take some time.

Hi Thys,

We installed AuthAnvil Password Server Version 2.8.2 (the latest version) and test it with RDM 12.6.2 and the integration is working properly. What is the problem that occured with your integration?

Hello David,

When I want to validate the Service URL I get an error with:
'Can't connect to the URL'.

I've added some screenshots of my settings and the errors I'm getting.

Thys

Hi,

I probably see the problem, the error that you have is an URL error. The URL you are using isn't the good one. could you please remove every texte after the AAPS.SVC and be sure to add http:// or https:// (depends of the setup) before the URL.

The configuration should look like this:

Hello David,

Still no luck.

I tried Service URL: https://server.domain/AAPS/AAPS.svc

Any other ideas?

Prior to connect with RDM I did my test with the sync agent configuration to confirm that everything is correctly configured. Could you take a look at this ScorpionSoft link please.

Also, did you tried with HTTP without the S?

If you try the link in a web page, the web page should be blank without error. Do you have any error in a web browser?

When I browse to link I get a blank page without any error.

We don't have any sync agents so I can't confirm the configuration.
But I think this is a good idea so I'll configure a sync agent to test this.

Hello David,

I've added and configured a sync agent. This seems to be working just fine. The sync agent has no problem connecting to the Password Server and can successfully check in.

Could it be possible that Remote Desktop Manager uses a different port? Or is there something else?

Hello,

If you go in Help - View Application Log, do you get something relevant to this issue?
If so, could you please send us the error?

In the Credentials tab, have you tried to click on the ellipsis button to get a list of the available credentials?

Hello,

In the Credentials tab I don't get a list of available credentials. When I press the dots(...) the same error appears that I get when I press validate.
In the Application Log only appears an entry when I select a wrong Certificate or when I use HTTP instead of HTTPS.

I've sent also Application Log to support using the 'Sent to Support' button in Remote Desktop Manager.

Thys

Hello,

I think I have found something. How the user RDM_Admin has been created on your AuthAnvil server?

On our server, if I use the Display Name of the user instead of the email address, I get the same error messages as yours.

Could you please try with the email address instead of the Display Name of the user RDM_Admin?

Hello,

Unfortunately I get the same error if I use the email address.

Hello,

What are the settings for the user RDM_Admin on the AuthAnvil server?

Hello,

I am afraid that I am still unable to reproduce your issue.
What version of RDM are you using?

Is it possible that a specific firewall rule block your access to the Auth Anvil server from your workstation?

Do you have a support plan with Auth Anvil? If so, could you please check with them if they can help you with that issue?

Best regards,

Hello,

My RDM version is: 12.6.2.0

The only port that is open to the AuthAnvil Password Server is 443/TCP.

I also contacted AuthAnvil support but their response was that I should contact you Devolutions.

Hello,

Are you available for a remote session? We want to check if there is a specific configuration on your end that can cause this issue.
Please write an email at support@devolutions.net and we will send the information to schedule an appointment.
