Hi I am getting the error,
Because of a protocol error (code: 0x112f), the remote session will be disconnected. Please try connecting to the remote computer again.
I have found a post regarding someone getting this error with windows RDP based on resolution sizes and the suggestion was to change the resolution.
https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/72ceca09-ab4a-4689-896c-6c86697333d6/rdp-session-error-because-of-a-protocol-error-0x112f-the-remote-session-will-be-disconnected
Anyone else know anything more about this error?
For me today it is happening during the login process. After the session disconnects it works after reconnecting to the logged in session. My screen resolution is set to 1110x669 (just the size of the window).
I just changed my window size slightly to 1136x669 and got the same error. 1226x669 same error...
Changing the screen size to set resolution of 1024x768 and I do not get the error. Stupid cheap laptop screen!
For completion I am running Windows 10 Pro and have noticed the error RDPing to Windows 2012 R2 servers and these ones have Citrix Virtual Delivery Agents installed and are RDS session hosts. Have not been able to replicate the error on other 2012 R2 servers or 2008 R2 servers so far.
Hello,
Could you launch RDM 64bit to see if there is any change?
Open the folder containing RDM, by default C:\Program Files (x86)\Devolutions\RemoteDesktopManager, and launch RemoteDesktopManager64.exe. You may with to create a shortcut for it on your Start menu.
If this doesn't help, you can try the other solution proposed in this help topic

Hi unfortunately I am running the Free version of RDM so this is not an option for me at the moment.
Thanks,
Ben
Can confirm that solution 2 and 3 make no difference. Looks like solution 4 could be a winner though which would explain why it was on the citrix servers which have their 'Citrix Enhanced Desktop' theme.
Thanks for the assistance.
Looking at all the screen resolutions mentioned, it sounds like it is an issue with the resolution size being one of the "non standard" sizes when handling the video stream..
My thought would be to not have the RDP session embedded, and try the closest standard screen resolution and see if you can reproduce the problem.. I'd try a few others at that point that are supported by your laptop, and if you can't reproduce it on a non standard size, then that pretty much isolates the symptoms.
That would be something to go to Microsoft with :-\

Hi,
The problem is associated to the resolution used. If I try to open it in full screen on my 4K monitor, I have the error "Because a protocol error (code 0x112f), the remote session will be disconnected.".
The solution is resize the RDM window to open it in a small resolution... or change it to open in Full HD (1920*1080) and not in full screen.
I'm using RDM free version.
Thanks.
