Migrating RDM from one computer to another

Migrating RDM from one computer to another

Good morning. I am moving to a new system and I wanted to migrate my RDM over to it. I was using Windows 7 before and now I'm running Windows 10. I do have a copy of my previous PC directories. I was and still am using RDM 12.0.8.0 on both systems and the directory structure is the same on both systems (for the user account, profile and Windows OS structure). is it possible to move all of my RDM settings from the old system to the new one?

With RDM, I have a local data source and a shared remote SQL data source. I exported the RDM "options" and imported them into the new install on the new OS. I also copied over the following files from the old system to the new one:

Connections.db
Connections.log
Connections.xml
Credentials.rdt
RemoteDesktopManager.cfg

I am missing the local data source info (I exported that and can just import the data into the new install) but I also am missing both my RDM Playlists and SQL data source Favorites (not sure if I'm missing anything else yet). Can you point me to where this information is stored (can I copy those files over to the new system also)? Is there a recommended set of files/registry settings to migrate to a new PC?

BTW - maybe that would be a good feature request (if it isn't there already). With "shared" data sources, maybe have RDM office "shared" program settings as well? Kind of like a group policy for RDM settings and configurations.

Thanks in advance,
STGdb

Hello,

To transfer everything, we recommend you to transfer all the files/folders that you will retrieve in %localappdata%\Devolutions\RemoteDesktopManager.

For your information, the favorites are saved in a file name RemoteDesktopManager.ext. The playlist are saved in the GUID folder of your data source. Both are located in %localappdata%\Devolutions\RemoteDesktopManager. To retrieve the GUID of your data source, go in File -> Data Sources and edit your data source. The GUID will be at the bottom left of that window.

Best regards,
