Chrome Extension - Encryption key is not recognized

Chrome Extension - Encryption key is not recognized

avatar

Hello

Each time I load Chrome, the RDM extension has this error:
RDMChrome has been disconnected from Remote Desktop Manager.

Encryption key is not recognized.
Press the reconnect button to establish a new connection.

It reconnects fine with the reconnect button.
Chrome Version 56.0.2924.59 beta (64-bit) (which I accept could be the reason). Chrome Extension Version: 3.0.4.0. RDM Version 12.0.8.0.
Is this error due to the Chrome Beta?

Thanks!

Hi Roger,

It's not Chrome Beta, each time you change data source in RDM, the extension needs a new encryption key to communicate with the new data source and thus fail with the old one. This is why the extension is asking you to establish a new connection.

I see that you are using Remote Desktop Manager for Chrome. I recommend you to use our new browser extension called Devolutions Web Login.

You can download it here:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/devolutions-web-login/neimonjjffhehnojilepgfejkneaidmo

We already have in our todo list to re-establish the connection automatically if the connection failed without asking or notifying the user.

Thanks for the quick reply Olivier

Would it make a difference that we're only using one data source?

I'll try the new extension instead.

Thanks four your help!

Hi Roger,

No if you close RDM often. When you will close RDM and open it again later the extension will ask you the same question because RDM will need to reconnect to the data source and won't recognize the old encryption key.
