Web browser extensions broke after update

Web browser extensions broke after update

avatar

I have updated my Remote Desktop Manager Enterprise installation to version 12.0.2.0, Chrome extension to version 4.0.3.0 and Internet Explorer extension to 4.0.1.0. The older 3.0.5.0 extension for Internet Explorer is still installed but disabled. OS is Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. Two problems:

1. Every time RDM and Chrome are restarted, the extension loses its connection to RDM. Manual reconnection works, but it's still quite annoying.
2. The Internet Explorer extension cannot connect to RDM at all. Both Devolutions Web Login Toolbar and Devolutions Web Login For IE are enabled in the add-on manager, and communication port is set to 19443 both in addon and in RDM, but it stays disconnected. I tried re-enabling the older 3.0.5.0 version but it exhibits the same behavior. Also, the Tools -> Extension Manager panel in RDM fails to detect the IE extension - it is reported as not installed, despite being installed and enabled.

Hi,

1. We will add an automatic reconnection in the browser extension when it loses its connection to RDM

2. In Devolutions Web Login IE, did you try click on "Is Not Connected" in the extension menu? It will try to connect to RDM.

If you go to a website where you have credentials link to it and click on "Fill Username and Password" in the context menu by right clicking on the field you want to fill . Does it fill it?

Nothing happens when I click the 'Is Not Connected' row in the menu, nor when I right click the credential field and ask it to auto-fill.

I tested the Edge extension and it does not appear to be doing anything either. It says in Edge that it has successfully connected to RDM, but it does not find any logins for registered sites, and in RDM extension manager its status remains 'Not installed'.

Hi,

Could you send me the trace when the browser extension tries to connect to RDM?

You can do it by following these steps:

1. Open the profiler (Located in the Help tab in Remote Desktop Manager)
2. Go to the "Debug Only" tab in the Profiler window
3. Write 17 in the debug level field
4. Click the "Is Not Connected" row (In the Devolutions Web Login Menu in Internet Explorer)
5. Right click the field and click "Fill username and password"
6. Send me the trace in the profiler.

Could you also do it with Edge by clicking on "Redetect credential fields" and send me the trace.

I was about to run this, but after the latest round of Microsoft updates that were installed over the weekend, it looks like the problem has disappeared

Spoke too soon - the difference is not in versions, but in connection types. The add-on works fine when a URL configured as a 'Web' type entry in RDM is open, but a 'iLO' or 'iDRAC' type entries fail to pull credentials from RDM to an external Internet Explorer window (embedded IE works, but then fails to open .NET remote console in iLO). Chrome add-on also fails to fill in these same entries, while working on others.

Hi,

Session of type iLO and iDRAC don't send their credentials to browser extensions. Only sessions of type Data Entry (Login (Web) and Login (Account)) and Web Browser (http/https) send their credentials to the web browser extension if the checkbox "Enable web browser extension link" is checked.

We will add this checkbox in the iLO and iDRAC sessions to be able to send the credentials to web browser extensions.

Could've sworn it used to work before the update - external Internet Explorer was the only way to run .NET Remote Console in HP iLO.

avatar

Hi,

Which version were you using before the update? iLO and iDRAC sessions never sent credentials to web browser extensions.

I think it was 11.7.6.0, but I suppose it's quite possible that I'm dreaming it up :)

Hi,

You will be able to do it in the next RDM version. Make sure to check the "Enable web browser extension link" checkbox in your iDrac and iLO sessions settings.

Thank you. 12.0.8.0 came out yesterday, I upgraded the client and then our Devolutions Server installation from 4.0.3.0 to 4.0.6.0 and now iLO sessions successfully pass the credentials to IE.
