I am looking to share an RDP document with another admin, but we each need to use our own credentials. I was hoping to save credentials to the doc but prevent them from being revealed - in this way we could each select our own creds or use service accounts as-needed. However, upon testing with a saved credential with the "Allow reveal credentials" unchecked, the credential was still able to be revealed by the other user.
Username / Password credential type, RDP Manager Enterprise
Hello,
What version of RDM are you using?
What type of data source are you using?
Best regards,
Mark Beausejour
11.7.6.0 64 bit / XML Data source (Shared via an internal shared storage share)
Hello,
We don't recommend the usage of a XML data source in a team environment. We recommend the usage of an Advanced Data Sources instead.
http://help.remotedesktopmanager.com/datasources_advanced.htm
Using an Advanced Data Source, it will be possible for you to use our User Specific Settings feature
http://help.remotedesktopmanager.com/edit_userspecificsettings.htm
This feature allow you to override the session credential and use your personal credential to establish the connection. This can be use with another feature which is the Private Vault http://help.remotedesktopmanager.com/view_navigation_privatevault.htm
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
Unfortunately the advanced sources are not suitable as they rely on a centralized server and we do not have access to deploy one, nor can we store the data source in an online cloud.
Unfortunately our solution for you request requires a database. Perhaps you could check if RoyalTS can do that. It's a good product and they are file based.
Sorry about that.

I've thought about something. Perhaps you could override the credentials with the Local Specific Settings but it will be saved locally on your computer.

RoyalTS won't work for a variety of reasons, but chief among them because I am quite a fan of RDM having already purchased the enterprise license :)
Could you try the Local Specific Settings?

That works, though I'd have to override at multiple local nodes without a reusuable cred but that seems to work fine. In any event, I've now got a Devolutions server license as well I'll give that a whirl and try out the private vaults too!
As a sort of enhancement request, maybe some warning that "Allow reveal credentials" doesn't actually apply? Or rather hide that altogether for unsupported data source types (XML)
Why do you get the Allow reveal credentials with the Xml? Could you post a print screen?

Great question -- here's what I see
http://imgur.com/a/O5DpN
When I share the XML, the other user is able to click the eyeball and see my password.
Indeed it's confusing. I will take care of it and hide it when the credential is not in an Advanced data source.
Sorry about that.
