Hi,
I really like RDM and its configurability so far, but I'm missing one primary feature, which is currently holding me back from buying the enterprise version: loading private keys from an external agent for SCP/SFTP sessions.
For SSH sessions, in the "Advanced" tab you can specify that the private key should be loaded from an agent, overriding the setting specified under "Private Key". I manage all my private keys with KeePass and its plugin KeeAgent, which works fine with SSH sessions in RDM. For SCP/SFTP however, there is no "Advanced" tab and hence, I cannot tell the program to use the agent.
Am I missing something here (I'm quite new to RDM ...)?
Thanks in Advance.

Hi,
Indeed we don't have this feature but you can store your private key in RDM. I will add this our todo list.

Thanks for your quick reply. Yes, I know that I can store it in RDM but I like to keep my keys in a single place (KeePass). And also thanks for adding this to your todo list; hope to see this feature soon. In the meantime I'll just use the Filezilla integration for that ;-)

Hi, We manage all our Access to linux servers with Keybox and RSA Keys.
So eveyone has a private key in the Key manager Agent to connect to servers with SSH.
But for SCP/STFP, the Agent option is not available. We need this feature too :)
Hi,
it's on our todo list for the beginning of next year.

Hello,
It will not be possible to use a key agent with the entry types based on rebex.
Fortunately we have our own FTP and SCP implementations, and these will support the key agent. We currently don't have our own implementation of SFTP but we should have it soon and it will also support key agents. We'll post again on this thread when we have an estimate on when it will be implemented.
The changes for the FTP and SCP implementations will be in the next beta of RDM enterprise.

Hubert Mireault
A version of our own SFTP implementation should be ready in either the next beta or the one afterwards, and it will support the key agent as mentioned.

Hubert Mireault
Would this support your own key agent manager?
Hello,
Yes, the "use SSH authentication agent" option with SCP and SFTP should work with RDM's key agent.

Hi again,
sorry for picking up this "old" thread, but I think this relates:
Today I updated RDM free to Version 3.5 and was happy to find the new "Use SSH authentication agent" setting in the "Advanced" tab of the built-in SFTP entry. Unfortunately though, it is not saved. Every time I check the box, save the entry and reopen it, the box is unchecked again.
I'm not sure if this is a general issue or just a side effect of using a shared xml configuration with auto refresh in our team, but I wanted to let you know.

Hello Gerrit,
I will assign this immediately for investigation.By the way if you team grow, please consider a SQL database to make sure that you don't loose your changes and get all the benefits of the log and security.
Thank you
David Hervieux
Hello,
We've identified the issue and it's fixed internally. We will work on a small patch that will be available soon.
