When I copy text in the remote session I sometimes get disconnected and the entire session resets. Is this a known problem?
Hi Peter,
This is not a known issue.
I would need a little more information to reproduce your issue here.
What version of Remote Desktop Manager are you using?
What is your OS versions both local and remote?
And final but not least iI would like to RDP log. Here how to get it How to enable and send RDP Logs
Best regards,
Benoît Sansregret
RDM: 3.6.0.1
Local: OS X 10.10.5
Remote: Windows Server 2008 R2
the log is small so I just attached it.
Quick connect - 10.72.64.177.log
Sorry about that forum seems to have a problem here the last message was mine:
Thank you
I'm currently not able to reproduce your issue.
From what I see in the log it looks like something is wrong with the format of the text you are copying.
What app are you using as the source of your copy.
Best regards,
Benoît Sansregret
It's seemingly random. I repeatidly copy the text below from SSMS, it will crash eventually (average 4 or 5 copies).
Still no luck reproducing your issue.
I went a little deeper into what your log was telling me and your issue is related to some miscommunication between the remote clipboard and RDM.
It's either the data sent is in a format that is not supported or the that the communication has completely crashed.
That should not happen so often.
I will need more information to continue my investigation:
What version of SSMS are you using?
Is there something between you and the remote computer (VPN, gateway,...)?
Is there something modifying the clipboard installed on either the remote or the local computer?
Best regards

Hi Peter,
I would like to try something with you.
Would you mind trying to reproduce your issue using Microsoft Remote Desktop?
Best regards,
Benoît Sansregret
Ok I opened a RDM session, copied until it crashed. Then I opened a session in Microsoft Remote Desktop, tried copying the same exact text and I could not get it to crash.
I did notice the following in the system log.
Hi Peter,
Thanks for trying to reproduce your issue with Microsoft Remote Desktop.
What you are seeing in the system log are mainly warnings referring with UI Constrain and it should not interfere with your session.
The last entry is what happen when a Native Crash inside a RDP Session force it to shut down.
We should not be worried about that stuff.
I noticed in your log that you are using the Free Edition. It shouldn't be a concern but I will continue my investigation with this edition.
I also don't have access to an AWS environment at the moment. I will have to setup one and see if that's what messing with your clipboard.
I'll try to get back to you as soon as possible.

Yes a Wireshark might give us some hint of what is going on.
Just to warn you, we are on Holiday next Monday here, so don't expect an answer before Tuesday.
Have a good week end
