Has anyone thought about integration into Atlassian Jira or Confluence?

Hello Bill,

Do you know if they have an API, SDK or Command-Line that we could use to make it?

If there is anything else we can help you with, please let us know.

Absolutely

It would be great for customers opening tickets and being able to see and resolve them in RDM.

Hi,
I have entered a feature request for it. This could be interesting indeed. Unfortunately it will not be in RDM 12 but maybe in an update.

Any update on this please :)

Has this feature request gotten any attention & perhaps gotten a timeline?

Would be greate if the documentation tab could be replaced or integrated with a Conflence page.

Hello,
We have Confluence at the office but I just don't know where to start in the integration.

Why not start simple, make it a option to replace the documentation tab with a preexisting Confluence page for each entry? Super simplest way would be to allow the use to paste in the URL of the confluence page and RDM detects that its a confluence page and shows that instead of the builtin documentation page for that entry. To streamline it it would need a option to login to confluence ofcourse, but thats part of your core business :-)

And later on develop it to be able to create a new Confluence page from the RDM and save as the documentation page.

Or if its easier, make a Confluence page a session option in RDM

In our case its Confluence cloud but ifcourse there is Confluence onprem aswell

Thank you for the idea.

I see there is now a field for Confluence documentation URL under User Interface in the properties of a folder. I've populated the URL with a confluence page that I'd like to use in place of the RDM documentation module. Clicking on the documentation tab still shows the default RDM documentation though.

How is the feature supposed to work?

Thanks

Hello,
By configuring the url, you will get a tab called Confluence in the dashboard

When I populate the Confluence URL on a device I do see the confluence tab. When populating the confluence url on a folder object there is no Confluence tab. Is this by design?

Hello,
What RDM version do you use? I know that they made a fix for that recently.

I'm using version 2020.2.12.0

Could you try RDM 2020.2.15.0?

I see the confluence tab now on folders in 2020.2.15.0. However, clicking on the tab displays a white page with nothing on it. The same thing happens when I click on the confluence tab for other objects that worked previously.

Hi there,

when specifying an url in the -> Properties -> User interface -> Documentation/Confluence Part, I got the confluence tab, but unauthenticated .
Is it possible to specify there the credentials like in a usual Web Browser/https entry ? To directly authenticate to the confluence page ?

Kind regards,
Constantin

Hello Constantin,

Thank you for contacting us on that matter!

In order to authenticate to your confluence page, you will need to go under File -> My Account Settings -> Confluence -> Log in and enter your credentials:

Hi James,
thanks for the hint - but that works only for confluence cloud right ?
We have confluence server (self-managed on premise) and therefore a local login.
But we can aswell specify oauth access tokens localy, so I guess this would be another type of implementation....

Hello Constantin,

Thank you for your quick reply!

I was just informed by our Engineering Department that this feature request is already on their todo list, the ticket number is RDMW-5572.
I will inform you once we have more information on that matter.

Hi James,

We are also interested to integrate our confluence (on premise) in RDM.
Is this ticket already resolved? RDMW-5572

Currently I dont see the option, so i guess it is not resolved. But maybe @James does know something :-)

Hello,

The ticket RDMW-5572 is still on the to-do list of our Engineering Department. That being said, I took the liberty of raising its priority.
