Cycle through tabs with keyboard by tab position

Currently there are two keyboard shortcuts two cycle through open tabs: Ctrl+Shift+Left and Ctrl+Shift+Right:

It seems that these shortcuts cycle through tabs by their order of opening date. Instead, would it be possible to get an option to cycle through tabs by their position order on the tab bar?

So Ctrl+Shift+Left -> move to the tab to the left of the current one.
And Ctrl+Shift+Right -> move to the tab to the right of the current one.

Also, the keys comboboxes on the screenshot above would gain to be larger. :)

Hi,

Do you have any plan to implement these features?

Also, would you be able to add "Ctrl + Tab" and "Ctrl + Shift + Tab" as options for the shortcuts ?

Hi,
Do you mean you can't configure Ctrl+Tab in File->Options?

Hi David,

That's right (I'm using RDM Free in case that matters).

Hi Otiel,

We've added the CTRL+Tab and CTRL+Shift+Tab shortcuts. We've also added Cycle Next/Previous Tab to move through tab in the order they appear in instead of the order they were created. We've also made the comboboxes larger. This should be available in the next patch.

Hi Samuel,

Thanks, that's great to hear! I'm eager to test that. :)

Those new shortcuts don't seem to be working for me (RDM free 3.0.13.0)

Hello,

Cycling should work properly in the next patch.

I confirm it works now in 3.0.15.0. Thanks for the patch!

Hi,

It seems that there is a bug linked with these keyboard shortcuts. As soon as I close a tab, I cannot access all tabs anymore using Ctrl+Tab, while it still works with Ctrl+Shift+Right.

Hi,

Coming back on this issue:

I will verify this. Thank you

Hi David,

I've made some more tests following the recent release of RDM Free 4.0.0.0:

Seems that you guys have merged both functionalities?
I don't have both issues I mentioned in my previous message anymore, so it's all good now. :)

The only issue I have related to these shortcuts, is the one described here.

Hi guys,

I have noticed that going through tabs only works one time. What i mean is, that if i want to switch through multiple tabs, after switching one tab i have to use the mouse and click somewhere in the RDM (like menu bar or what ever) and only then i can switch to the next tab with the key combination. Without clicking anywhere it won't switch in any direction.

Do you guys know anything about this?

Hello Sasha,

I think I might have been able to reproduce this behavior. That being said, it seems to depend on the type of entry that is opened in my Dashboard.

According to my tests, I can navigate through tabs multiple times using "CTRL+SHIFT+Left" and "CTRL+SHIFT+Right" without issues as long as the tabs that are opened are RDP connections. At one point, I opened an ARD entry type as well and as soon as the focus went on this tab, the focus went in the session itself, preventing me to navigate between my tabs without clicking back into RDM's UI.

For this reason, would it be possible for you to tell me which type of entries are opened in your Dashboard? Also, which version of RDM and what type of Data Source are you currently using? Is it the Free or the Enterprise Edition?

Best regards,
