Hi Guys,

my company change the security settings for RDP. Now I get on each Windows 7 or Windows 10 Client an additional Window Pop-Up to enter my Password again.

Is there a way or workaround to set automatically my stored Password, who is stored in a KeePass Database, into this Window, too?

Any suggestions! I tried something but nothing work with success.

Regards,
Daniel

Hello Daniel,
Do you connect in embedded or external mode? Have you tried to use a typing macro after the connection?

HI David,

thanks for your quick reply!
I use the embedded mode, but the same happens with external mode.

I tried it with macro after connection, but that excatly the problem, I'm not connected at this state. :(

Daniel

This is strange, for RDM as soon as you double click the connection you are considered as connected. We can't detect if you really are connected. Could you make sure to add a delay for example 5 sec just to be sure that the prompt is visible?

You mean to set a delay in the macro? If yes, yes I tried it already with 5 or more secondes..... no success

I'm out of idea but we could verify something

Could you export me your session without the credential with the macro. I will double check.

I send you a private Message with my .rdm as attachment.

@lgrullonbb,

This thread as 6 years old, so we would need to start from the beginning with you regarding your issue.

What is the exact issue that you encounter?

What version of RDM are you running?

Hi Team,

Not sure if this should be a new request, but seeing this thread is a similar problem and has just been added to, I'll work here.

We've needed to implement some CIS recommended policies, and one of them is the
Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host > Security >
Always prompt for password upon connection policy

Since implimenting this RDM is unable to automatically login using credential vault entries.

I have looked at the "After Open" macro event, but while I've tried a few entries, I'm not sure I've got the right variable name. Something does get typed in, but it is not accepted as the correct password.

Is there a recommended method to autopopulate password on servers with this policy? If it is the Macro, was password variable should I use?

Thanks
Darren

Hello,

Thank you for contacting us on that matter!

Do you experience the same issue if you establish your RDP connection outside of RDM using MSTSC.exe?

Best regards,

Hey James

Yes, Although the message is slightly different. In MSTSC with save credentials, the message is "The server's authentication policy does not allow connection requests using saved credentials. Please enter new credentials"

Thanks

Hello Darren,

Thank you for your swift reply!

Since this message also occurs outside of RDM this is not something that we can work around.

The only thing that could possibly work would be to use a different RDP engine. If that is something you would like to try, you can go under File -> Options -> Types -> RDP and use the first dropdown menu to select "FreeRDP". Once this is done, you can launch your RDP entry and see if the same message appears.
