VPN error using rasphone.pbk located on server - error 623
I have a certain VPN connection I'm having trouble with. I'm on version 11.6.0.0. Getting error 623 when I try to open the VPN. I'm using embedded rasphone.pbk file located on the server.

The the phonebook entry name contain a space by any chance?

It does, but I removed the white-spaces and still get the error. I have several VPN entries with white-spaces that work.

what happens if you run the following at the command prompt?
rasdialconnectionnameusernamepassword/phonebook:phonebookpath

Just an FYI: This VPN is not set up locally on my workstation.
I ran the command with the associated connectionname username and password, and get the 623 error. I put %TMP%\RDM for the phonebookpath

Is there a key or some other setting that you must apply locally but that is not contained in the phonebook file? For a typical RAS connection you do not need anything other than the phonebook file.

Nothing special going on, just a PPTP VPN and not using default remote gateway.
