RDM clients showing "Software maintenance period is over"

RDM clients showing "Software maintenance period is over"

avatar

Hello,

Just a bit of background, our licenses for RDM enterprise and Devolution Server were renewed in early June. Now every time we re-open RDM client we get a prompt below.

"your Software maintenance period is over, you will need to renew your license if you want to install a new version! You can continue to use this version"

and we get 3 options, 1 - Renew Enterprise Edition , 2 - Continue with this version, 3 - Enter Serial

If we click on 1 it opens up a webpage and it closes by it's own and then nothing happens. RDM client will then open and is not valid to upgrade.
Click on 2, RDM client will open and is not valid to upgrade
Click on 3, it prompts for name, email and serial number, if we put in the renewed license details it'll renew the software maintenance

Question
Is there anyway to renew software maintenance on the RDM clients automatically instead of distributing the RDM enterprise license details to all users that use RDM?

Thanks.

Kind Regards,
John

Hello John,
It's very easy to distribute the new license. You can save the license in Administration-Data Source Settings

and

That worked perfectly. Thanks David.

I have added the new serial we received some days ago to the Data Source Setting Serial but the clients (also tried restarting the client) do not seem to be updated.
Do we need to force that or is the new serial updated when the old one has expired (we have got a few days left on the old one)?

Hello Jan-Pieter,

What version of RDM are you running?

What type of data source are you using?

Version: 11.6.2.0
Type datasource: Microsfot SQL Server

Hello,

I am not able to reproduce your issue.

Your users should get the new license when they connect on the SQL data source.

What do they have in Help -> Register Version?

Have you tried to do a CTRL+Refresh to refresh the local cache?

Best regards,

Jeff Dagenais

CTRL+Refresh does not update the "Free upgrade until"

Help->Register Version? shows

Also note that when I untick the "hide serial number" in the administration and relog on the serial is still hidden.

Hello,

Have you also tried to restart the application?

Yes, I restarted the application (client) and even rebooted my laptop

I checked the e-mail I received regarding the new license and it seems that e-mail is for the jump host license. I'm checking with my colleague who ordered the renewal (and seemingly also added the jump host license) if he also received an e-mail with the "normal" license key.
I added this jump host license key to the administration and it does not complain about it being a "wrong" license key. Is that normal behaviour?

I now got the normal license key and after filling it in the administration both a refresh and a start of the application (tried bot successfully) was sufficient to renew my license.
Sorry for the confusion.

Hello,
Sorry about that. I will make sure to add a validation but at least for now the mystery is solved. Thank you for your help.
