So I like HiDPI in terms of the RDM interface. Great, lovely. But not in the remote server, at least not when it's embedded. It's unusable.

I've tried multiple setting variations. Ultimately, I want the server to have a nice, healthy resolution exceeding 1600x1200, just with larger icon elements.

What RDM appears to be doing is to just treat the entire experience as HiDPI, and if I go with default resolution (which works perfectly on Microsoft's RDM tool), it blows everything up to 1162x728 or some other bizarre resolution. This is on a Surface Pro 4.

My question: Can I just tell RDM "don't HiDPI the remote session"? Or even better, "Only do HiDPI when the session is Full Screen" (in which case it's lovely)?

Hi,
I have on my todo list to improve the RDP connection in HDPI. In RDP 8.1 it's possible to send the DPI values to the server. This should help a lot.

I will let you know when it's available.
