Remote Desktop Manager for IOS with hosted Thycotic Secret Server
I've been trying to get Remote Desktop Manager on IOS to use credentials from a hosted instance of Thycotic Secret Server (like we do on the Windows version interally) and it's not resolving. I'm connected over VPN and the Thycotic IOS app works fine connecting to it.
I was wondering if this use case was even supported for the IOS version, or if it's just assuming I'm using a Cloud version of Secret server?
Hi Brandon,
Which version of secret server are you using currently?
Best regards,
Mathieu Morrissette
Version 9
Thanks!

Hi,
In the Service URL field, Have you specified the server name or its IP address?
Best regards
Mathieu Morrissette
we have the IP address in there
HI,
Are you able to access the server from the iOS safari web browser? ( While still being connected to the VPN )
Best regards
Mathieu Morrissette
Yep. I can access it and log in just fine via safari while on the VPN
Hi,
Are you able to access it from the integrated web browser ( Web Session ) and also, are you able to ping the server using the ping tool?
Best regards,
Mathieu Morrissette
Yes I can access it from the integrated web browser. I cannot ping it from the ping tool, but we have ping completely disabled for that server, so that makes sense.
Hi,
Can you send us the logs. Settings -> Logs -> Send Trace to Support
Best regards,
Mathieu Morrissette
Sent, maybe. The app is just sending me to my home screen after I click send trace and nothing else happens. Let me know if you received it.
Hi,
The send log is crashing the app and so we didn't receive anything ( It's going to be fixed in the next release).
Can you try to send me the logs manually by going into Settings -> Application log and copying the output. Send it to : mmorrissette@devolutions.net
Best regards
Mathieu Morrissette
Hi,
I received your logs, could you try recreating your entry in RDM for Windows and see if it works?
Best regards
Mathieu Morrissette
RDM for windows works fine. I've been using it happily all day.
Hi,
Do you have Force https/ssl enabled on your server ?

Yes, we have that enabled.
Hi,
Would it be possible for you to try it out with it disabled? ( and using http in the url field )
Best regards
Mathieu Morrissette
Sorry, that's not something I can get changed, even for a quick test.
Hi Brandon,
Are you using Integrated Windows Authentication when connecting to the server?
Best regards
Mathieu Morrissette
Yes, we're using windows credentials.
Hi,
In Window, do you specify a credential or it's all automatic ( Automatically uses your windows AD credential )?
Best regards
Mathieu Morrissette
I get the pop up to enter a credential for Thycotic, and enter the same credential set I'm using in the Windows version
Hi,
I just released RDM 1.5 for iOS. Can you try using the new version?
Best regards
Mathieu Morrissette
I just upgraded but am still having the same issue.
I noticed going through it just now that it's not asking for the radius password with the rest of the credentials like it does for us in windows version. I'd bet that's why Thycotic isn't letting me log in.
Is there supposed to be a second pop up for that, is it supposed to be in that first pop up, or is my issue that two factor is not supported with the ios version at this time?
Hi Brandon,
The radius password field should be displayed if "Use radius password" is checked but it is not. This is a bug and I'll fix it in the next release.
Best regards
Mathieu Morrissette
Awesome. I'll look forward to that release. Thanks so much!
Hi,
I just released Remote Desktop Manager 1.5.1 (iOS) and the bug has been fixed.
