Problem with application password

Problem with application password

avatar

I set an application password (just to try it):

1. Set the username/password
2. Restarted Remote Desktop Manager
3. Entered the username/password and logged in OK
4. Went back into the options and clicked the Reset Application Password at which point it told me that password protection had been removed.
5. Closed Remote Desktop Manager

Now every time I start Remote Desktop Manager I get promted for a username & password. I have tried the original username/password I set, username with blank password and (it feels like) a million other combinations.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app, I have removed the Connections.mdb and RemoteDesktopManager.cfg, installed it all into a different directory, downloaded the latest beta and installed that in a new directory. All no good

No matter what I do, I get prompted for a username/password when launch the application and can get no further.

Can anyone suggest how I can get around this?

Hi,
I really don't know what happened, I unable to reproduce it. Can you try to execute the application as administrator if you are using Vista. Maybe there a file stuck in the virtual store. Also do a search for RemoteDesktopManager.cfg, maybe there is a config file stuck somewhere else.

Let me know

Hi,
I have a similar issue, although it may just be a case of forgetfulness with the application password.
Which mechanism does RDManager use to lock the application? All other users on the same system (Terminal Server) are able to work fine. I don't belive it's tied to docs/settings profile as I have removed this and created a new one.
Is this something stored within the registry?
Thanks

Hi,
Since the version 6.0, we lock the application by encrypting a part of the configuration (including the password of a data source).
