Hello,
we have RDM 11.1.0.0 in combination with DVLS 3.1.0.0. Now, we wanted to use the Credential Repository for a RDP session.
We selected the credentials and stored them. Why does RDM always ask for credentials? If I press [ESC], it even connects. But we do not want to see this window every time.
Regards,
Georg
Hello,
As I understand, you have created credential entries in your Navigation Pane and linked them to your RDP sessions using the Credential Repository.
You are right, it should not ask you for the credential when you launch a RDP session.
Is it possible that you have an entry created for that same session in Windows Credential Manager? If yes, this may be why you are prompt for credentials.
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
Hi,
thanks for the quick reply. I do not see any entry that matches. The Credentials I use are generic ones and not stored inside the credential manager of windows (of course, I do not see them).
In the windows Credential Manager, I see:
- some website credentials that I did not store inside RDM
- my personal credentials
Any other idea?
Regards,
Georg
Hello,
In your RDP session, does the NLA option is enable in the Connection tab?
If not, could you try to enable it.
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
Hi,
the NLA Checkbox is already enabled.

Georg
Could you post a print screen of the prompt? I want to see if it's a dialog from RDM or from the RDP ActiveX
Regards
David Hervieux
The dialog is from RDM.
ActiveX (you mean the windows credential dialogbox?) does not appear.
I will send you a PM.
Regards,
Georg
Could you check this setting in File->Options:

Hi,
this option is checked already. Should I disable it?

Hi,
I have the same problem with imported session from asg. It always prompts me the credential list. If I click cancel it takes the stored credentials. New created entries work as expected. I already checked the above settings.
Version 11.7.2

@pingus
Is it a RDP session that you are launching?
Could you post a print screen of the properties of your session.
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
Yes, RDP

Hello,
Could you export me your session in a .rdm (without the credential), I would like to reproduce this in our environment.
To do the export, select your session -> do a right-click -> select Export -> Export Selection (.rdm).
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
@pingus
Thank you for the session that you sent me in private message.
Using this session, I am not able to reproduce your issue.
I would like you to try to save the credential inside the session directly and open it. Does the credential window appear?
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
Ok, I will try it. But I need two weeks before I can test it.
Yes, it appears when the credentials are saved inside the session.
Edit: Version is now 11.7.3.0
@pingus,
You mentioned that you have imported your session from ASG.
Is it possible to send us a sample of that import at support@devolutions.net so that we can try to reproduce your issue in our environment.
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
@Everyone
We have found where the issue came from. When pingus has exported his sessions from VisionApp, it looks like the export file has been added with a prompt on connection setting in the credential section of the RD Gateway which is not use in this case.
The solution is to perform a batch edit on the RDP session to remove the prompt on connection at the RD Gateway level. To do so, the following steps needs to be done:
Select your RDP sessions and click on Edit -> Batch Edit -> Edit Sessions (Session Type settings).
Click on the Connection tab, check Edit gateway settings in batch
Select Use These RD Gateway server settings
Enter “A" in the Server name field
Press the credentials button
Select Use custom credentials and press OK on that window
Remove the “A” in the server name field
Select Do not use RD gateway server
Best regards,
Jeff Dagenais
Hi, this solved the problem! Many thanks.
