Hi,
There are lot of keyboard commands doesn't work well in SSH Shell. The problem is that in SSH Shell some of the RDM keyboard shortcuts works. For example if you press the insert key, the RDM new sub connection comes up and it's impossible to use insert.
cant confirm that. insert is working for me, but only with shift+insert.
when you press win+insert the connection window is shown.
Maybe your coffee mug is stuck on windows key? :)
No, I am using Windows 8 so stucked windows key would cause other side effects as well :)
I had tested on a different machine and connecting to a different ssh servers but the issue is the same.
I am using the internal SSH shell in an embedded window. If I press insert the "please choose either to create sub connection of xxx or a new entry" window coming up. I am using RDM 8.0.12.0.
do you just press insert? or shift+insert?
also, why not use putty? :)
Just insert.
I do not use Putty, because:
- I do no just see the terminal window, the program's window too in the ebedded window.
- the embedded putty doesn't hadle well the focus
- when the session disconnected - in the backgroud - putty opens up a global modal window
- whem you click on Putty window when in the background, doesn't come foreground.
- ....

Hi Zomby,
You can disable the RDM shortcut key by clicking on the little magnet in the statusbar
David Hervieux
I find the magnet makes no difference. In either case if I hit F10 or just about any other key sequence, RDM acts on it and its not passed through to the internal SSH.
Hi Phil,
I will ask André to take a look at this. Thank you
David Hervieux
Actually let me reword that. If you click off the magnet, then things like F10 get passed to both. So my Linux terminal gets the F10, but RDM also puts up the shortcut boxes for the Alt Key sequences.
I can confirm that clicking on the magnet doesn't help, the result is exactly the same.
I found a connection to this issue. If you use SSH Shell and UNDOCK it from the embedded view (You can't select external in the SSH Shell setup), then keys are all passed through correctly when you turn off the Magnet. If you are docked, Magnet has no effect. All the special keys/Fkeys are passed both to the application and RDM.
Hi,
Could you try the latest beta. The shortcuts can be customized and you can disable them when you are in a session.

Just tested, looks ok, I can press insert and it is sent to host. :) Thanks.
I was too fast :( The insert key is sent, but it seems to be sent to RDM as well. For example if I press F10, it sent to terminal and RDM as well and if you press ENTER after, RDM toolbar comes up.
I didn't found how the shortcuts can be disabled.
I am using SSH Shell in embedded window. ( RDM 8.0.22 )

Hi,
You are right about those one. These are the only one that are not customizable. I will verify this
David Hervieux
Just tried the lastest (.022). Went into shortcut manager and first tried every key set to "When not in session". Restarted RDM, F10 and others still get sent along. Tried it again with every key set to NONE, restarted, F10 and other still get send to both host and RDM.
What type of session has the focus?
David Hervieux
Internal SSH Shell
The embedded SSH shell window. For me if I press ESC the whole RDM loses focus and going background.
Hi,
I have made a fix for F10. This will be in the today's build (8.0.23)
David Hervieux
Progress - 8.0.23
ESC no longer causes lose of focus in SSH Shell, F10 is passed and no longer hits the opened sessions menu, but now it is passed through to the app and hits the "Action" menu in RDM. This is with all shortcuts/keys set to "when not in session" in options.
FWIW, ESC + 0,which is what can be used as an alternate to F10 works now (this didn't before), so the F10 not going through without reaction to both the application and RDP is being caused by RDP rather than the SSH Shell itself.
I am so looking forward to the final resolution to this as once I can kill PUTTY off, I can do everything with just RDM and no other external programs.
Don't want to beat a dead horse, but even in the 8.1 version with every option in keyboard section set to NONE and NONE, F10 in SSH shell brings up the action menu with the Reconnect Button Highlighted. All other keys seem fine and or follow the settings in the keyboard section.
Hi,
I will verify but I suspect that the ribbon intercept the key stroke.
David Hervieux
Hi,
I've found the problem. I have made another build and hot fixed the binaries 8.1. Just download the zip file and overwrite the files to apply the fix.
David Hervieux
Confirmed - F10 fixed. I can also confirm that with the upgrades to the 3rd party SSH, all Fkeys, normal and shifted and control now work when keyboard in SSH Shell is set to Linux (Previously you had to set Extended).
Confirm: F10 works.
Thanks!
Thank you for your help
