I've only used RDM Enterprise 8.X and have had this problem on all 8.X versions.
The issue is that when I try to reboot a server that I'm RDP'd into, in this case Server 2008 R2, RDM just hangs and I have to kill the process in task manager. It seems to be any server thus far. Since we are primarily Server 2008 R2 and Server 2012 that's all I can tell you. It does NOT seem to happen with my SSH Connections to Linux boxes or my Cisco gear.
Information:
OS: Windows 8 Enterprise x64 (Both Machines)
DATASOURCE: SQL Server 2012 Standard (Both Machines)
Anyone else having this issue? I'm migrating my 1385 connections from VisionApp RDP which is also a SQL Database, and this is somewhat of a show stopper for me. I'm a 100% remote employee, and I'm trying to sell our IT department on this product to get away from the high cost and low features of VisionApp (AGS), but if this keeps happening I'm afraid I can't even begin to recommend it.
It's happening on two different devices, both of which are Windows 8 Enterprise x64, and it's on 2 totally separate instances of SQL Server 2012 Standard.
Hi,
It seems that the ActiveX does not detect the connection lost. Perhaps I could disable the auto reconnect. You said that you haven't had those issue with VisionApp?

The problem doesn't happen with VisionApp RDP.
On a side note, I just did a complete format of my drive and a fresh install of SQL Server 2012 Standard x64 with Windows 8 Enterprise x64. I'm in the process of importing my connections from scratch and will test a few of them then get back to you.
