AWS EC2 Console

So I've loving the EC2 console, however, I have a production and a development setup in aws. I want to use the ec2 console to quick connect to them, and allow me to choose the credential or know that ip's starting with xxx = prod vs dev. Instead I'm always getting the windows login box and am required to retype in my password.

Is there any logic I can use to correctly inherit the credentials?

What about maintaining an updated list of sessions based on a query from ec2 so that I could organize the machines myself? This app is awesome (plan on writing up a blog review) but I'm finding it daunting for figuring out some of these type of situations.

Any suggestions welcome!

Hello,

Let's start by saying that we should come out with an EC2 Synchronizer, which would automatically create sessions. It's not even assigned yet so I cannot say when it will come out.

With the version you have now, in the EC2 console you can create sub-connections for either SSH or RDP, but these will not fit your scenario very well. I'm afraid you will have to store the sessions under distinct folders for prod vs dev, set the credentials on the folders, and lastly set the sessions to use inherited credentials.

One could even imagine using the Amazon SDK to create two csv files, prod and dev. You could then use our CSV Synchronizer to have sessions created under the appropriate folders.

How is your powershell?

That's really helpful.
I'm begining-intermediate level on PS. I don't work in it enough to pump it all out quick, but I can probably find the AWS SDK command to get the list, filter, and create csv. I'll then have to become more familiar with synchronizers, which sounds like a great option, especially if they will let me clear a folder and reset to the contents of the csv folder.

Any road map to include something like this? I just tried the console again to see if any changes and unable to specify the IP address column I want to use to do the quick connect.

Is there any way to map column names from the exported csv the Amazon EC2 console exports to map to "Host" and other required fields the synchronizer needs. In this case, I'm not finding documentation on how to map the csv, only assuming the csv format is already correct, and this is not something I can edit as it's exported by devolution from the ec2 console window.

Hello Sheldon,
I will assign this thread to one of our dev and he will look into it.

Any chance that EC2 synchronizer was added to the dev list and is planned on being worked in the next 12 months? Thanks!

Hi,
I'm pretty sure we can add this soon.

I see the first iteration of this in the beta release! Thank you!
I tested it out and found the following from my first go:

Successfully entries.
Did not honor the destination specified and created in root location
Did not honor the unchecked automatic checkbox so imported before I could preview what it was going to do
No way to configure the mapping or parsing of the results, so I wasn't able to target the IP/HOST address to a tag I wanted to use, instead it populated it with the string which included some values I couldn't use to connect with.

Appreciate the first go around, so I figured I'd give some feedback on it. cheers
