ssh login root except some sessions : private key on private vault
Situation :
tree with groups.
I would like this behavior for all my Linux sessions below a group A:
- open session brings prompt with user "root". User only put the password.
- On some sessions, open session doesn't bring a login window, but (if not already entered) a prompt for my private key passphrase. To do that, I tought I had to add a user specific setting (thus only available for me) to indicate a private vault credential (a private key) in "General / override credentials"
My problems :
1- without specifying a private key on user-specific settings, I have an error "a supplied user or password is incorrect". (I've not enabled "Always ask for a password")
2- without specifying a private key on user-specific settings, I have an error "string cannot have a zero lenght -Parameter : username"
Thank you,
Olivier
Hello,
Private key credentials currently don't support being sent as a normal credential, you need to set the private key in the private key tab of the entry. In the private key tab you could set the option to be "my personal private key" to have it be per user, though there is only one that can be set at a time. Would this work in your use case?
We want to improve the usage of the private key by allowing it in the credential like how you're trying to use it, so that part is on our todo list.

Good news, we'll have support for private keys in credentials in the next version of RDM! Feedback is appreciated.
