HP iLO Web Remote Console (.NET) Fails to Open

HP iLO Web Remote Console (.NET) Fails to Open

avatar

I created a subconnection of a server with type HP Integrated Lights Out (iLO Web). Options changed on thus subconnection:
URL = https://$PARENT_NAME$-ilo
Login = Username and password entered with Auto fill and Auto submit checked
Using this connection, it successfully connects and I can see the web management UI. However, when I attempt to open the .NET Integrated Remote Console, it pops open the external window where IE normally downloads the Integrated Remove Console .NET binaries then this fails with the error message "Cannot download the application. The application is missing required files." Log file is attached.
I have tried to change the connection to Display = External, however it still opens as a tab in the RDM window. I've also gone to Options > Types > Web and changed Web = 'Internet Explorer' and IE Mode = 'IE 11' (which is the installed browser as this is a Windows 10 machine).
This feature would be a big win for us if we can get it working properly. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello,

I have assigned this to a dev, he should post back tomorrow.

Hello Will,

What version of RDM are you using? We fixed an issue with the external mode not working with iLO in one of the betas. If you aren't using the latest beta, could you try it?
I'm not sure if the external mode will help this issue since the autofilling won't work. You could use our browser extension on IE and make a Web Browser / Web data entry pointing to the iLO site, and then the IE extension would fill the credentials for you. That way, the Remote Console should work and you'll get the benefit of storing your information in RDM. http://help.remotedesktopmanager.com/index.html?dataentry_autofill_ieextension.htm

As for the issue with the remote console in embedded mode, I'm not sure we can really do something about that. I could ask one of our clients who provided us a testing environment to allow us to test the remote console.

Regards.

I am using version 11.1.0.0. I was able to get the page to open externally and as you mentioned it does not autofill. I would prefer to keep using the built in function on a single server entry instead of creating a Web Browser subentry for this, so we will just use it externally for now. If you could solve the issue with the .NET remote console that would be ideal. Appreciate you taking a look.

We'll check and see if we can have a testing environment for this feature, but it's possible there is not much that can be done at this moment.

Hello,

we have same issue. it would be really nice if you find a possibility to user remote-console without use of extern-mode + ie-plugin.

if you need futher logs or anything, just tell.

kind regards

Has this issue ever been resolved? I am having the same problem. Remote console works just fine if I run it from the web browser on the same computer that RDM is installed on.

The error I receive when I launch remote console:

"Cannot download the application. The application is missing required files."

Same here. Windows 10, RDM 11.6.2.0, tested both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. Java remote console works, .NET fails, although it does work in regular Internet Explorer on the same machine.

What do you mean by .NET fails? Do you get an error?

Yes, I get this error:

Clicking on 'Details...' gives me a text file which I attached to this message.

Also, I was a bit hasty in claiming that the Java IRC (Integrated Remote Console) works - it does open, but it is completely unresponsive, and so is RDM in the background until I close the Java IRC window.

I receive the exact same error. My log file is attached.

Hi,
We use the Microsoft ActiveX. I'm not sure if we can do anything. You could try to create a web browser session with Chrome to see if it works.

Hi David,

This issue is occurring from within RDM, not in the browser. When I connect to the ILO web page in Internet Explorer, remote console runs as expected. When I connect to the ILO through RDM, remote console malfunctions in the way described earlier in this forum thread, by myself and others. Whether or not it works in Chrome is beside the point. I can provide a video capture of the problem if it helps to clarify the problem.

Hi,
My point is that we don't have the control over the ActiveX. We can't fix the Microsoft code. Our only solution is to find workaround and unfortunately a video will not help.

What will help then? Like I said, ILO remote console works fine in Internet Explorer. It sounds like you are saying the ILO remote console plugin for RDM doesn't work and it can't be fixed. Looks like this forum thread outlining the same problem is 6 months old, which kind of indicates that Devolutions can't fix it.

Exactly Chris,
We haven't found a solution or a workaround. The ActiveX does not seems work with this clickonce application.

Sorry about that.
