Entry of type "Change Log"

Hello,

I'm setting RDM for a group of users managing and doing support of a cloud based platform.
RDM perfectly fits the need.

I created a hierarchy where hosts are grouped by customer.

Last week-end we had an issue with a customer and a call was opened on our duty line.
The root cause was a change performed by the team managing the platform.
Unfortunatelly, the support team was not aware and lost precious time.

There are several ways to address the problem.
Nevertheless, RDM will soon be the ONLY way to connect to the machines and I though we could have an entry "Change Log" at the root of the customer group (with its sort priority set high so it stays first).

I tried the "Note" entry type and it is nice because there is no need to open it as it displays in the dashboard.

I would find it even better if there could exist an "Change Log" entry type that would structure it even better on the dash board and force the team managing the customer to format the change log "lines" always the same way.

If your proposal is to use the "Note" entry type, may I kindly ask you to make the dashboard display it in Rich Text as it displays it in plain text as of now.

Thank you,

Pierre

Hi,
Have you tried the Rich Text Editor type in document?

Hello David,

Yes. I tried it.
I also tried all other Document types.

I was looking for something the users do not need to open.
They just select it in the navigation tree and the Change Log gets displayed.
It would even be better if this Change Log was displayed in the dash board when selecting the group representing my customer.

I thought I could maintain the More/Description field of the Group object but could not find a way to display it in the dashboard when the group is selected...

I may try to run a script in the "before connect section" but I find this weird...

Just in case you had a nice way to display rich text in the dash board when an entry is selected (that entry might be a group).

Best regards,

Pierre

Hi,
I will have to think about something but for now I don't know what I could do.

Nothing blocking at all David.
RDM is doing soooo many thing that my first reflex is to see how I can use it to cover all needs, including this one.

We may use another tool (or a wiki) to track those activities and I may use a "Before Connect" event to open a web page.

I was just thinking loudly.
