Embedded vs. Default credentials

Embedded vs. Default credentials

avatar

Can you please explain what is the difference between

** Credentials set to "Embedded" and the credentials specified next to it
** Credentials set to "Default" and the credentials specified in the General tab

I'm using SQL Server as the data source, if that makes any difference (or if there's a difference with other data sources only).

Best regards, Thomas.

Well, I guess one difference is that embedded credentials can have other types, like "Windows credential manager" whereas credentials specified in the General tab can only be username/password/domain. Is there more to it?

Best regards, Thomas.

Hi,
You configure the credential specifically for your entry when you embed the credentials and it's not usable by another entry. For example when you can to use an external password management source like Keepass or LastPass but for a specific entry. There is no benefit of using embedded entry if you just need to specify the username, domain and password.
