Forticlient default isntallation paths

Forticlient default isntallation paths

Currently working on a FortiSSL VPN connection entry using FortiClient 5.4.0.0780 (latest version.
After setting it up in RDM I get an 'Unable to find the application with the default configuration' error. It's asking for me to show the path of C:\Program Files(x86)\Fortinet\SslvpnClient and specifically the FortiSSLVPNclient.exe.
With this version of FortiClient the SSL-VPN and the IPsec VPN are both managed through FortiClient.exe whose default path is something like C:\Program Files(x86)\Fortinet\FortiClient.
Outside of RDM I can launch these connections fine using the info I have and . I tried to edit the default installation path to point it at the FortiClient.exe instead of the defunct FortiSSLVPNclient.exe
Is my only option to use an older version of FortiClient?
I'd be happy to provide more info to flesh this question out if its too vague.

Thanks,

Hello,

When you say you "tried to edit..."

Do you mean using File - Options - Path, Configure Installation Path?

yeah, file -> options -> path ; configure installation path.

FortiClient SSL VPN is looking for FortiSSLVPNclient.exe.

If I click the ellipsis and navigate to the .exe that I uses to launch forticlient I can't see it in the folder options to choose from.

Hello,

Could you try to duplicate the FortiClient.exe and rename it FortiSSLVPNclient.exe in the installation folder of Forticlient.

Configure the appropriate path in File -> Options -> Path and launch the VPN.

Let us know how that work.

Best regards,

Good idea!

I copied the .exe and renamed it. When I browse to configure the path I still see no FortiSSLVPN.exe to select from. I don't see any of the .exe that are in that folder actually. (see screenshot)

Hello,

RDM is looking for the folder, so just select the Forticlient folder and click on OK.

Hi Rob

Could you tell me also how you have set this up. I have configured the path and correct exe. But when i try to run it from rdp no connections are made.

Are you using with or without credentials

Hans,

The issue I had was not realizing that when it asks for a filepath it's looking for the folder containing the .exe rather than the .exe itself.
