clean up standalone installation

avatar

hi,

I am using RDM enterprise as a standalone installtion (zip file) for portaility reasons. I usually update the installation by simply copying everything from the .zip file into my installation folder.

As I am doing this for some years now, i think there is a lot of gruft in the insallation folder. I would like to install a fresh copy and would need to know which files from the current installation I need to transfer into the new one.

I tried simply to copy the "config" folder over, but the layout was reset to default. then I added the "data" folder, but then my license was gone (and the layout also).

thanks,

PAT

Hello,

Please consult http://help.remotedesktopmanager.com/installation_ancillaryfiles.htm to learn of the various file locations.

The licence is in the RemoteDesktopManager.cfg file, since you have copied the config folder it should have worked.

Have you followed the instructions of http://help.remotedesktopmanager.com/installation_portableusb.htm for your initial setup?

Best regards,

Maurice

oik, thanks, I forgot to create (or copy) the override.cfg, so RDM looked into the wrong directories for config and data.
