Our company uses Lastpass for their Password repository so I'm trying to keep things nice and simple when creating credentials inside RDM. However, When I create a lastpass credential it registers the username and password while the domain is blank and I'm guessing thats because it's a Server Lastpass file so theres no place to add a domain. I then created a Customer Entry and added the domain within the details and parented the last pass credentials to the customer entry and it's still not registering the domain. Should I be creating the lastpass Note types as something other than Server for it to register the domain or is their another method I can do, and I appreciate any help thanks.
Hello,
Lastpass itself has but one field for the username, in the case of domain accounts you must enter the full info either DOMAIN\username (downlevel domain) or username@domain.com (UPN)
Did I understand correctly? If you want to reuse the same credentials but replace the domain part (i.e. Windjammer\David and Downhill\David) you will have to use a variable for the domain. It gets a little complicated so I'll wait for your confirmation before going further.
Best regards,
Maurice
That worked thanks a lot for the quick response!
Hi Maurice,
I am using Lastpass with one set of credentials, I am finding my first domain is working however I can't get it to work on the others (although I don't have a domain name in the lastpass entry), can you give some more info on this variable you mentioned?
I am setting the cred at the company level and I have my domains below that (all inheriting), what I am seeing is my first domain (let's call it DOMAIN1) is fine but then when i try the others RDP comes back saying DOMAIN1\mike is not valid?
I my RDP setup I use hostname field I use $NAME$.$DOMAIN_CUSTOM_FIELD1$ to get the correct computer etc.
Happy to give more info etc, just want to try to use one set of cred's, I was using 5 different ones in the past!
Cheers Mike
so your setup isCompany --> folder of the COMPANY type Domain1 --> folder of the DOMAIN type RDP1 RDP2 Domain2 RDP1 RDP2 Domain3 RDP1 RDP2 Domain4 RDP1 RDP2 Domain5 RDP1 RDP2
I do not understand why you use a custom field as a source for a name...
Maybe you could send a branch of your tree so I can better understand. You can use export on a folder, its best to not include credentials.
Either send that file by private message, or to support@devolutions.net
Maurice
Hello,
For adding the domain with the LastPass credential, you have to put the RDM variable in the LastPass entry. When a LastPass credential is used, RDM resolves each variables found in it.
On this example, I use the $DOMAIN_DOMAIN$ variable of RDM in the Username field of my LastPass entry. This variable is used in a Domain entry type.
