Hello,

What do you have in File - Options - Security - Application Security?

How is the data source configured?

Maurice

avatar

Hi,

see attachements. we use sql database

security.jpg

avatar

So we see that the administrator has required that you authenticate with your windows credentials in order to launch the application.

In your SQL Server data source, are you credentials specified or "always ask password" is checked?

Maurice

I have not found the always ask password

avatar

Also we are over 30 users and I'm the only one with this problem

avatar

sorry, the checkbox is labelled "save password", is is unchecked?

Hi, the option is check but gray out

Integrated security is used, this means that it doesn't prompt for your credentials, but rather uses a token maintained by Windows behind the scenes.

I see no reason that explains why you are being prompted twice.

Could you create a local data source, choose it as being active, close RDM and restart it? Are you being prompted once or twice?

This is to isolate the cause between the APP or the data source.

Thank you

Maurice

Hello,

Could you try the following:

1- Close RDM
2- Navigate to %localappdata%\Devolutions\Remote Desktop Manager
3- Delete remotedesktopmanager.cfg
4- Restart RDM

This will create a new remotedesktopmanager.cfg. However, all your data sources configuration will be lost as well as your registration.

Let us know if this as resolve your issue.

Best regards,

Jeff Dagenais

Hi,

I still having the problem. Also another user got the same problem.

Do you have any idea?

Thanks

avatar

Hi reniera,

Are you still running RDM 10.6.4.0?

Best regards,

Jeff Dagenais

avatar

No, 10.9.10.0 and the other user 10.1.0.0

avatar

Hi,

I am not able to reproduce your issue with my RDM 10.9.10.0.

As per your print screen, the issue appear when you unlock the application. Does the issue occurred at the opening of RDM as well?

Have you tested the 32 and 64 bit version of RDM?

Best regards,

Jeff Dagenais

We got the problem when we open RDM 32 and 64 bits

Hi,

but if we use the binary we don't have the problem....

Hi,

i've test with another computer and I've not the problem. I'm using roaming profile.

I would like to know which registry key can I delete to make a clean up. I want to remove RDM and make a clean up registry.

thanks

avatar

By default we do not create registry keys

For a full uninstall, delete whichever you find :

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Devolutions\RemoteDesktopManager
%APPDATA%\Devolutions\RemoteDesktopManager

Be advised that local data sources are stored in that folder, My Personal Credentials as well, you could archive the folder just to be safe.

Maurice

Hi,

The problem is resolved!

uninstall RDM,

Remove folder into %LOCALAPPDATA%\Devolutions\RemoteDesktopManager and %APPDATA%\Devolutions\RemoteDesktopManager

Install RDM.

Work perfectly for my partner also.

Thanks

avatar

Hello,

Just a word of warning to backup that folder before deleting anything. Those that have a local data source problably have it stored in there as it is the default path.

There are also the license, user prefs, and various important tidbits of information in the RemoteDesktopManager.cfg and RemoteDesktopManager.ext files

Hi,

The problem come back after upgrade to 11.0.16.0.

So did the same as last time :

uninstall, delete whichever you find :

%LOCALAPPDATA%\Devolutions\RemoteDesktopManager
%APPDATA%\Devolutions\RemoteDesktopManager

reinstall 11.0.16.0

Work for a few days then login twice come back. One of my co-worker got the same problem.

Any Idea?

Thanks

Could you try to remove one folder at the time to see if it's related to %LOCALAPPDATA% or %APPDATA%

Hi,

I think I found something, Our DBA monitor the DB and my session at the first login nothing appears in SQL at the second she got request in SQL

The problem look around the offline DB. I've delete the folder with encrypt name

AppData\Local\Devolutions\RemoteDesktopManager\199e532a-63fb-4422-9105-cc39f268ca9a

Then restart the app. Got only 1 login.

Just to make sure this is the offline DB causing the problem. I've restore the offlineDB i've just delete and i got the double login!!

We have set the Offline mode at Read-Only and expiration 3 days.

It's look the like the application open offlineDB first and ask the password for the offlineDB then connect to SQL and ask password again.

The time stamp of the offlineDB is update. So the offlineDB are updated.

Thanks for you help.

Could you please export your RDM options and send that to use? Private message or via email (slavergne@devolutions.net) You can unselect all the check boxes.

I'm guessing that two different settings in your options are interacting with each other causing the double prompt. Having your options will help us figure it out.

Thank you for the export. I've been testing for the last few hours and have found nothing.

I've added some debug code in RDM that will log the call-stack of the code when the form prompts you for the password. This should allow us to pinpoint where/why this issues is happening.

With the next version you will need to enable debug mode (1) and run the application until you get the error. After you get the double prompt send us your application logs for analysis.

I will let you know when the next beta release is out and will outline the exact steps to follow.

Best regards,

Thanks

avatar

Could you please try the latest beta build, it has the debug information that will help shed the light on the issue.

http://remotedesktopmanager.com/Home/Download#beta

Once you get the double login, enter the passwords to start the app and send us the application logs (Help -> View Application Log -> Report (tab) -> Send to Support) Please add "Attn: Stefane" in the message body.

Best regards,

Stéfane Lavergne
